
Milly Alcock and Jason Momoa aren’t the only people who worked on Game of Thrones and are now involved with the Supergirl movie. With the first trailer coming on December 11th, marketing for Supergirl is starting, and we’re learning more about the film. It seems the composer from Game of Thrones has been brought on board to create the music for Supergirl.
Ramin Djawadi, the composer behind the popular scores for Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, and Iron Man, will be composing the music for the upcoming Supergirl film. This isn’t his first time working with Supergirl‘s director, Craig Gillispese – they previously collaborated on the 2011 film Fright Night. You can listen to a preview of the new score below.
‘Supergirl’ Is Getting an ‘Iron Man’ Boost

The music in the Supergirl movie clearly aims for a futuristic, techno-sci-fi feel. This style reflects the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic book, which greatly influenced the film and features the hero exploring various alien planets. This approach helps Supergirl differentiate itself from other space-based superhero movies like Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel, and even from Ramin Djawadi’s score for Eternals. It’s currently unknown whether the movie will include popular pre-existing songs, something both DC Studios president James Gunn and director Craig Gillispese have frequently used in their previous projects.
The music for Supergirl has a noticeably different feel than the Superman score, which was created by John Murphy and David Fleming. Interestingly, the main theme for Superman was a remix of John Williams’ famous “Superman Theme” from the 1978 movie, slowed down and played on guitar. Murphy’s use of guitar in Superman was reminiscent of Ramin Djawadi’s powerful guitar work in Pacific Rim. While Superman had a classic sound fitting for its old-fashioned hero, Supergirl appears to be aiming for a more modern and futuristic sound.
Ramin Djawadi is a highly acclaimed composer, best known for his memorable music on Game of Thrones, a truly iconic TV show. Given his success with Iron Man, it makes sense he was chosen to score Supergirl. Both Iron Man and Supergirl present heroes who break the typical superhero mold – they’re portrayed as more flawed and fun-loving, and their music needs to reflect that. Considering how well the Iron Man score was received, Supergirl‘s music is in good hands.
