Rex Culpepper, the son of Brad and Monica Culpepper, has died in a dirt bike accident, according to the Tampa Bay Times. He was 28 years old.
Although his parents—his mother competed on season 24 and his father joined her in 2013 for Blood vs. Water—have remained silent, his siblings, Honor and Judge Culpepper, released a joint statement on Instagram on March 16.
They shared old photos with their brother, Rex, calling him their ‘biggest brother.’ They expressed their grief, saying they couldn’t find the words to describe how much they’d miss him and weren’t sure they ever would.
A celebrated Syracuse University quarterback, Rex played on the team from 2017 to 2020.
Despite being diagnosed with testicular cancer in 2018, he remained a top performer. Syracuse University recognized his strength and resilience with the Jim DaRin Courage Award, given to a player who overcomes major challenges like injury, illness, or personal hardship, as stated on the Syracuse football website.
The Syracuse Orange football team is saddened by the passing of Rex Culpepper, who died this weekend. A statement on the team’s X account shared that Rex battled and overcame cancer at age 20 while playing for Syracuse. He appeared in 30 games and was known for his fierce playing style, reflecting his passionate approach to life.
The statement concluded, “Our hearts are with the Culpepper family & all those who loved him.”

Just weeks before he tragically died in an accident, Rex proposed to Savanna Morgan, who shared a touching tribute to remember him.
She shared on Instagram on March 16th, alongside photos of them together, that no one anticipates finding their life partner only to lose them six years later. She explained that while Rex hadn’t previously believed in soulmates, he eventually told her he hadn’t understood the feeling until they became so deeply connected, feeling like parts of the same whole. She added that they always lived each day to the fullest, as if it were their last.
“You dont just meet people like Rex all the time,” she added. “He was one in a billion.”
