At present, the gaming sector in China is thriving, and Swords of Legends appears to be the next exciting venture emerging from that region. This game was unveiled during the Gamescom Opening Night Live event, which you may recognize. Interestingly, it’s a new addition to a series that has been around for 15 years.
For the first time in the GuJian series, this is its western release, as demonstrated by the trailer displayed above.
This marks the western launch of the GuJian series, as illustrated by the debut trailer you can see above.
This game is an independently playable single-player role-playing title developed using Unreal Engine 5. It’s deeply rooted in Chinese literature and folktales as its source of inspiration. Although it belongs to an existing series, it has been specifically crafted to offer a self-contained gaming experience.
Here’s the setup, as per developer Aurogon Shanghai:
As I step into the realm of Swords of Legends, I find myself embodying Si Pan, an Underworld Enforcer who’s been brought back from the dead. With mystical powers at my disposal, I wield divine artifacts and powerful weapons against a horde of otherworldly threats. Summoned souls join me in combat, bound enemies with spiritual seals, or I can unleash devastating multi-target attacks to shift the tide of battle. Each adversary presents a distinct challenge that calls for strategic manipulation of my abilities to expose their vulnerabilities.
Following the substantial popularity of Black Myth: Wukong, there’s an increasing trend of Chinese games being adapted for Western players. Swords of Legends is one such title, joining Phantom Blade Zero in promising offerings from China. It seems that there will be opportunities to test the game before its release, as hinted by a press statement mentioning beta tests and demonstrations.
