Sylvester Stallone wanted to use AI to de-age himself for a prequel about an 18-year-old Rambo

A new movie exploring the early life of John Rambo is being made, marking the first time Sylvester Stallone won’t be playing the character.

Interestingly, Stallone had actually proposed his own idea for a prequel earlier. His plan involved using artificial intelligence to make him appear as a teenager again, allowing him to reprise his famous role.

He said on The Playlist’s Bingeworthy podcast that people thought his idea was wild, but he explained that AI is now advanced enough to find a picture of someone from their youth – even going back to a specific place and age, like 18 in Saigon – and realistically recreate it. Because of this, he doesn’t think the concept is that far-fetched.

So, the latest I’ve heard is that Noah Centineo – you know, from ‘To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’ – is going to be playing the Vietnam vet in this new movie. It’s super interesting because it’s being directed by Jalmari Helander, a Finnish director, and they’re planning to shoot the whole thing in Thailand sometime in early 2026. Sounds like a cool project!

Sylvester Stallone, though not part of the movie, believes it will be challenging for the actor to take on the part.

He admitted it was incredibly challenging. While the new version might be excellent, they faced an uphill battle because of the strong affection for the original ‘Get Carter’ film starring Michael Caine. People naturally compare it, and that creates a bias.

Details about the new movie are scarce, but it will focus on the character’s time in Vietnam. Fans can likely anticipate the same exciting, fast-paced action the series is known for.

This will be the sixth film in the Rambo series, and the first one released since 2019’s *Rambo: Last Blood*, which received mostly negative feedback.
