Taylor Sheridan’s crime drama series is missing a familiar face from his other shows, specifically one of his frequently used actors. The third season recently concluded with Dwight Manfredi (Sylvester Stallone), a former New York mafia boss now running things in Tulsa, overcoming another opponent. While the finale provided action, some viewers felt it didn’t have the same emotional impact as previous episodes.
Season 3 of Tulsa King had a change in leadership, with Dave Erickson taking over as showrunner. Terrance Winter, who previously held that role, will return as head writer and executive producer for Season 4, which Paramount+ has ordered. With Winter back on board, and potentially some returning cast members, the show could regain its earlier success.
Tulsa King’s Cast Is Missing Yellowstone Actor James Jordan
Unlike other shows by the same creator, Tulsa King doesn’t feature many of the same actors. Notably absent is James Jordan, a familiar face in those projects. He’s appeared in films like Wind River (2017), playing Pete Mickens, and Those Who Wish Me Dead (2021) with Angela Jolie and Finn Little, who also starred in Yellowstone.
While Jordan has been in shows like Veronica Mars and True Blood, he’s most recognized for his work with Taylor Sheridan. He’s created memorable characters in both Yellowstone and its prequel, 1883, where he plays somewhat unpredictable roles. On Yellowstone, Jordan plays Livestock Agent Steve Hendon, and in 1883, he’s known as Cookie, the chuck wagon chef.
The show has a fun group of characters, including Bodhi, Tyson, Mitch, and Grace, but it feels like it’s missing a key element found in Jordan’s work: a friendly, dependable character who also provides some comic relief. Someone like that, especially given Jordan’s Texas background, would fit right in with Dwight’s group of Western characters.
James Jordan Is In Taylor Sheridan’s Best Paramount+ Shows
Kevin Costner isn’t the only actor who frequently appears in Taylor Sheridan’s work. For example, T.J. Jordan has been in both Yellowstone and Sheridan’s films, and also in other projects the producer has overseen. Before Yellowstone, Jordan played a prison warden named Ed in the crime drama Mayor of Kingstown with Jeremy Renner, though his character died in the first season. He’s since appeared in several of Sheridan’s other shows as well.
Following his appearances on Yellowstone, Jordan took on a larger role in Lioness. He plays Two Cups, a member of the CIA’s elite Lioness program, who participates in dangerous counterterrorism operations. Appearing in almost every episode of Lioness, Jordan has much more screen time than he did on Yellowstone, allowing him to showcase a more grounded character after playing more erratic roles.
Many fans consider the actor’s latest role to be his strongest yet. He plays Dale Bradley in Landman, a new oil-focused drama from the creator of Yellowstone. Dale is an engineer who works for M-Tex and shares a home with Tommy, and his scenes with Angela (played by Ali Larter) provide some of the show’s funniest moments.
Can James Jordan Feature In Tulsa King Season 4?
Despite the recent news regarding Paramount+, there’s still a possibility Michael B. Jordan could join Sylvester Stallone’s crime series. It would make more sense for him to be a part of the main team, rather than playing the bad guy. Although his characters on Yellowstone often create problems, they don’t do so with malicious intent.

Despite being busy with upcoming roles in both shows and Season 3 of Lioness (both renewed by Paramount+), Jordan is likely to appear in at least a cameo. While he isn’t a main character in the series starring Thornton and Zoe Saldaña, his character is important to the storylines and plays a vital role in the overall casts of both shows.
Michael Jordan could also make an appearance in a new series. Similar to the drama Tulsa King, NOLA King will star Samuel L. Jackson, reprising his role as Russell Lee Washington Jr. from the third season finale of Tulsa King. The story will follow his character’s return to New Orleans, where he’ll build a new team and introduce a fresh cast of characters.
After leaving New York, the main character from Tulsa King needs to build a team in New Orleans. Bringing on Jordan as one of the first members would create an interesting new relationship and could potentially lead to crossovers between the two shows. Jordan’s addition would strengthen either series, and could even involve a popular character that fans already love.
