The team is currently working on a remastered version of Tales of Xillia 2, and the producer, Yusuke Tomizawa, hinted in a recent Weekly Famitsu interview that an announcement about the next Tales of game to receive a remaster is coming soon.
During an interview about the upcoming release of Tales of Xillia Remastered, Tomizawa announced that they are working with several development partners on more than two game projects, ranging from early testing to advanced stages. While the release schedule will depend on how development progresses, they aim to deliver as many games to fans as quickly as possible.
When asked about a potential announcement for their next remastered game, Tomizawa explained that he couldn’t share details just yet. However, he indicated that an announcement should come fairly soon, or at least, that’s the current goal.
Regarding a remastered version of Tales of Xillia 2, Tomizawa explained that they’re focusing on releasing games as soon as they’re ready. He confirmed that Xillia 2 is still being worked on, which is why it hasn’t been officially announced yet, but they’ll share updates as soon as they can.
It’s been a few years since the last main Tales of game, Tales of Arise (2021), which received an additional story expansion in 2023. However, the development team is already working on new titles, according to Tomizawa. While a new game announcement isn’t coming immediately, they are planning other ways to engage fans – like events, merchandise, and promotions – alongside the recently released remasters. Looking ahead to the series’ 40th and 50th anniversaries, the team aims to keep creating opportunities for players to connect with the stories and characters in new and exciting ways.
Okay, so I’m super excited – Tales of Xillia Remastered is finally coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, and PC through Steam on October 31st! I’ve been waiting for this one.
