Just before the full Kill Bill movie returns to cinemas, Quentin Tarantino has unveiled a new short film called The Lost Chapter: Yuki’s Revenge. This animated project was a scene he originally wrote for Kill Bill but never filmed. Fans could first see it within the Fortnite game starting November 30th, and it’s also getting a limited release in theaters. While promoting both the short and the Kill Bill re-release, Tarantino hinted at revisiting another long-held idea for a film he’s always wanted to make.
Quentin Tarantino recently told Entertainment Weekly that he’s exploring new technology like motion capture and animation. He believes this could allow him to finally create films he previously couldn’t, including one long-requested by fans. He envisions a style somewhere between live-action and Japanese anime, which would let him tackle projects with limitations he currently faces, such as a potential movie about the Vega brothers.
For decades, fans have been hoping for a movie centered around the Vega brothers. These characters – Vic Vega, the ruthless criminal played by Michael Madsen in Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs, and Vincent Vega, portrayed by John Travolta in Pulp Fiction – are actually related within the world of Tarantino’s films. Though they never shared the screen, Tarantino has long suggested the possibility of a movie exploring their story.
The planned movie never came to fruition, and sadly, Michael Madsen passed away earlier this year. Tarantino has also stated he won’t use technology to make actors appear younger, so a live-action version isn’t likely now. However, he’s still considering an animated film focusing on the Vega brothers. He envisions it taking place during the time Vincent Vega was in Amsterdam, as mentioned in Pulp Fiction. Tarantino explained that the story would center around Vic visiting Vincent while he was living in Amsterdam and running a club, detailing what their weekend together might have been like.
Quentin Tarantino is Still Talking About a Kill Bill Prequel

Although many Quentin Tarantino fans are eager for a movie about the Vega brothers, Tarantino himself seems more focused on a prequel to Kill Bill. He revealed he had a detailed idea for a backstory of the character Bill, exploring how he became who he is and the influential figures – Esteban Vihaio, Pai Mei, and Hattori Hanzō – who shaped him. He’s not sure if he’ll have the time to make it happen, but he’s definitely interested in telling Bill’s origin story.
The Kill Bill films feature The Bride (Uma Thurman) crossing paths with the three men who mentored Bill and shaped him into the criminal he was. These were Vihaio (Michael Parks), a father figure from Bill’s youth; Pai Mei (Gordon Liu), a secluded kung fu expert; and Hanzō (Sonny Chiba), a famous Japanese sword maker. A prequel story would explore Bill’s younger years, showing how he trained with these men to become a mob boss. Following David Carradine’s death in 2009, Quentin Tarantino had to find a new actor to voice Bill, and he ultimately voiced the character himself in The Lost Chapter: Yuki’s Revenge.
