Taron Egerton became well-known after starring in Kingsman: The Secret Service, but he’s deliberately chosen to be careful about the roles he takes on, avoiding a string of big action movies. While he’s often mentioned as a potential James Bond or Wolverine, he says he isn’t currently focused on major Hollywood blockbusters. This has allowed him to appear in critically acclaimed films like Tetris and Carry-On, though some of his projects don’t always get a lot of attention. Luckily, streaming services can help these films reach a wider audience.
Egerton’s new movie, She Rides Shotgun, is currently a big success on streaming platforms. According to FlixPatrol, it’s the most popular movie on Prime Video, even outperforming holiday films like Oh. What. Fun. and Red One. It’s also the second most popular movie on MGM+.
She Rides Shotgun Is Finally Available for a Wide Audience

You might not have heard of the movie She Rides Shotgun – it had a small release in theaters over the summer and didn’t make a big splash at the box office. But now that it’s available on streaming, it’s gaining a lot of popularity. In fact, it’s currently the most-watched movie on Prime Video, even with all the classic holiday films available, which shows how much viewers are enjoying it.
The film She Rides Shotgun is gaining a lot of positive attention. Critics have given it a strong score (87% on Rotten Tomatoes), highlighting its realistic feel and compelling acting. The movie follows Nathan Mcclusky (played by Egerton), a man recently out of prison, as he goes on the run with his daughter, Polly (Ana Sophia Heger). Throughout the film, Nathan and Polly are chased by dangerous people who want to harm them. At its heart, She Rides Shotgun is about the growing connection between a father and daughter, which creates a powerful and engaging story for viewers.
Taron Egerton delivers a standout performance in She Rides Shotgun, showcasing his versatility as an actor. Viewers accustomed to his charismatic role in Kingsman will likely be surprised by his ability to handle such a raw and dramatic part, seamlessly portraying a father desperately trying to safeguard his daughter. Egerton actively seeks challenging roles, making this project a natural fit for him. The character of Nathan allows him to explore a different side of his acting, and while the film hasn’t received major awards attention, it highlights his talent and hopefully opens doors for similar opportunities. Young actress Heger is equally impressive, proving to be a perfect fit for her role despite the risks often associated with child actors.
While not a feel-good Christmas movie, “She Rides Shotgun” is a gripping drama that Prime subscribers should check out this December. It’s a shame the film didn’t perform well in theaters, but it’s now finding viewers through streaming.
