Greg Davies and Alex Horne have been making audiences laugh on the show Taskmaster for more than ten years. The show has recently become very popular with viewers outside the UK as well.
Currently in its 21st season on Channel 4, the show remains popular and has been renewed for six more series.
Let me tell you, Season 19, which hit screens in 2025, was a real breakthrough for the show. The buzz was incredible – we’re talking 165 million views of clips online, all over the world! It really cemented the show’s place in the cultural conversation.
The show has also surpassed 1.4 billion global views on its official YouTube channel.
So, what’s the secret to their success? According to Davies, it’s mostly thanks to a really effective format created by Alex.

Davies explained to The Times that despite playing a terrible dictator, the character isn’t meant to be evil. He wasn’t surprised that the contestants quickly connect and remain friends, describing them as becoming a close, unusual family.
A big part of what makes the show so popular is the playful bickering between Davies and Horne. As the host put it, “He’s a really good friend, but he genuinely gets on my nerves.”
Alex Davies mentioned that more international versions of Taskmaster are being developed, playfully suggesting the show is becoming increasingly popular: ‘It seems to be catching on.’
Season 19 featured comedians Fatiha El-Ghorri, Jason Mantzoukas, Mathew Baynton, Rosie Ramsey, and Stevie Martin, who have recently come back together – a welcome surprise for fans of the show.

Taskmaster’s creators are hinting at a slightly different version of the show coming soon, with some changes to the usual format, according to Alex Horne.
Although he didn’t share many details, when asked about the team’s future plans, Horne mentioned they were considering adding a ‘Champion of Champions’ competition, as he told TopMob.
We’re planning something new and interesting soon – a series with a few exciting changes. I can’t share details yet, but we have a project in the works.
Taskmaster is available to watch on Channel 4.
