Amy Gledhill

Age: 38

Job: Comedian and actress

Amy Gledhill is a comedian and actress who started her career performing in comedy sketch groups. In 2018, she won the Caroline Aherne Bursary – an award created to help promising new comedic voices – which included a cash prize and guidance from a BBC editor.

I’ve been following Sophie Willan’s career with a lot of interest. She really broke through with ‘Big Fat Like,’ a hilarious sketch show she wrote and starred in for CBBC between 2020 and 2021. But it was her role as Leslie in the BBC Two comedy ‘Alma’s Not Normal,’ starting in 2021, that truly showcased her talent and comedic timing. It’s a fantastic show, and she’s brilliant in it.

This year, she appeared on the second season of Prime Video’s ‘Last One Laughing,’ a comedy competition show hosted by Jimmy Carr.

Armando Iannucci

Age: 62

Job: Writer and satirist

Armando Iannucci is a Scottish writer celebrated for his witty and insightful political comedy, and he’s had a long and successful career.

He began his career on BBC radio in the late 1980s, working on shows like the satirical current affairs program On the Hour. He then moved to television, creating the comedy news show The Day Today with Chris Morris.

Later, he worked with fellow comedian Steve Coogan to develop the comedy character Alan Partridge.

I first discovered his genius back in 2005 with The Thick of It on the BBC. It was brilliantly funny – a real takedown of how government actually works, and Peter Capaldi was incredible in the main role. It really stuck with me!

He recently created the HBO political satire series Veep, which won numerous Emmy and SAG awards during its run.

Joanna Page

Age: 49

Instagram: @iamjoannapage

Job: Actress

I absolutely loved watching Joanna Page as one of the stars of Gavin & Stacey! Even though the show only ran for three seasons, from 2007 to 2010, it’s still one of my all-time favorites – and so many other people feel the same way, even after all these years!

She’s also remembered for her part in the 2003 movie Love Actually, where she played Judy. Her character finds romance with John, played by Martin Freeman, after they connect while working as stand-ins for more intimate scenes.

Joanna has appeared in popular TV shows like Doctor Who, Doc Martin, and Nativity 2. Recently, she’s been a presenter on BBC One’s Shop Well for Less and ITV’s The Pet Show with Dermot O’Leary. She also joined the panel on the ITV talk show Loose Women in 2023.

Joel Dommett

Age: 40

Instagram: @joeldommett

Job: Comedian and presenter

Joel Dommett, now 40, started his career as an actor with roles in shows like Casualty and Skins. He then moved into comedy, gaining recognition on Russell Howard’s Good News, and later became known for his work on Impractical Jokers UK from 2012 to 2014.

I’ve been a big fan of Joel Dommett for years! He really came into his own when he started doing TV presenting, initially with ‘Live in Chelsea’ alongside ‘Made in Chelsea’. But he’s truly blossomed with ‘The Masked Singer’ – he’s hosted that since it began in 2020 and is just brilliant at it. Plus, he’s also been doing a fantastic job hosting the National Television Awards since 2021. He’s a natural!

Joel competed on the sixteenth season of I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2016, where he came in second place, just behind Scarlett Moffatt from Gogglebox. Since then, he’s been hosting the show’s companion program, I’m a Celebrity: Unpacked.

Kumail Nanjiani

Age: 47

Instagram: @kumailn

Job: Comedian and actor

Kumail Nanjiani is an actor who has appeared in popular shows and movies like Silicon Valley, Eternals, and The Big Sick.

You won’t believe how I ended up on that Channel 4 show! It all started because of Tim Key, who was on the first season. I met him at a party and practically gushed about how much I loved the show – he was the reason I even considered applying!

Alex Horne shared that a particular moment from this season of Taskmaster – involving Kumail Nanjiani’s confession about his private hotel room habits – is destined to become a legendary Taskmaster story.

I’m so excited! Taskmaster season 21 is starting this Thursday, April 9th, at 9pm on Channel 4. And if you’re not in the UK, you can watch it on the official Taskmaster YouTube channel – amazing!
