Grace Van Pattenloves being toxic with boyfriend Jackson White—onscreen, that is.
The actress from Tell Me Lies enjoys playing the complicated couple Lucy Albright and Stephen DeMarco on Hulu, especially because she met her current partner while auditioning for the show. It makes you wonder, how do they actually get into character to play such a dramatic and unstable relationship?
“We are who we are, and we’re not changing,” Grace told TopMob News. “What you see is what you get.”
Let’s be real, despite how we might see them on screen, I’ve learned that this 29-year-old and her partner, Jackson – they actually went public with their relationship back in October 2022 – are totally different people in real life. It’s always fascinating to see how much of a contrast there can be between a public image and someone’s true self, isn’t it?
Thankfully, we’re completely different people, which makes those scenes so enjoyable to play. It’s a fun challenge to be nasty and over-the-top because it’s so unlike us and our actual relationship.
The actor, known for their role in Nine Perfect Strangers, explained that it’s enjoyable to explore challenging roles, and it feels safer and more exciting to do so with a trusted colleague. They said it was a really positive experience.
Grace and Jackson have become close with their costars – Catherine Missal, Spencer House, Branden Cook, Sonia Mena, and Alicia Crowder – feeling like a family. This made it easy to keep the atmosphere light and fun on set while filming the third season of Tell Me Lies, which premieres on Hulu January 13th and is described as the most dramatic season yet.
She said they’ve become like family. Having worked together for so long, they’ve shared a lot of experiences and grown close over the years, and she cherishes the friendships they’ve built.
Grace is grateful for the strong friendships she’s formed with her costars, and she cherishes the fun memories they’ve made both on and off set.

After being on the show for three seasons, it felt less intense. We all felt more comfortable switching between work and personal life. This season was also filmed in Toronto, instead of Atlanta, which gave us a chance to explore the city and discover new restaurants and activities on our weekends.
Grace had a fun time filming in Toronto, enjoying barbecues and relaxing with friends. She brought that same adventurous energy to Florida, where she recently discovered a passion for gin and powerboat racing. Last month, she attended the E1 Series Grand Finale in Miami with Bombay Sapphire and became a fan of the sport.
She said she had a wonderful time and called it a fantastic experience. She didn’t know anything about E1 before, but as soon as she learned it involved electric powerboat racing, she was instantly interested.
Grace’s collaboration with Bombay Sapphire even changed her Thanksgiving celebration. She discovered their Sparkling Lemon at an event, introduced it to her family, and they loved it so much they had it during Thanksgiving – and were very grateful for the delicious new drink!

Grace is looking forward to the release of season three of Tell Me Lies, and she’s eager for viewers to see the characters finally dealing with the fallout from their past choices.
Things are finally catching up to the characters, and they’re starting to face the consequences of their past actions, leading to a lot more intense emotions. Each character is dealing with their own personal struggles, and the audience will get to experience those challenges right alongside them.
Grace concluded, “People will feel connected to a lot more characters this season.”

Based on the acclaimed 2003 Belgian film De Zaak Alzheimer, Memory of a Killer is a suspenseful thriller. Patrick Dempsey stars as Angelo Doyle, a professional killer who lives a risky double life and is secretly battling the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease.
I’m so excited to see Michael Imperioli as Dutch! He plays Angelo’s oldest friend, and it’s fascinating because Dutch is a really talented chef, but his restaurant is secretly used for illegal activities. It’s a complex role, and I know Michael will nail it.

I’m so excited to see Captain Jason Chambers back as captain of the Katina! And even better, we’ve got some of my absolute favorite crew members returning as department heads – Chef Ben Robinson, Chief Stew Daisy Kelliher, and Second Officer João Franco. Plus, Alesia Harris is back in the galley as Sous Chef, which is fantastic news! It’s going to be a great season.
