Temuera Morrison occupies a distinctive position in the Star Wars storyline, starting with his portrayal of the bounty hunter Jango Fett in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones. Being the genetic model for the Republic’s clone army, his visage was shared by millions of soldiers. He lent his voice to Jango, Boba, and all the clone troopers, including popular characters like Captain Rex and Commander Cody, across various animated series. Afterward, he re-entered the live-action realm to portray Jango’s unaltered clone son, Boba Fett, first in The Mandalorian and later starring in his own series, The Book of Boba Fett. However, it seems that the beloved bounty hunter’s adventures have temporarily halted. At a panel during Tampa Bay Comic Convention, hosted by Collider, Morrison revealed that, at present, Boba Fett is not involved in any upcoming Star Wars projects.
Morrison promptly denied any plans for a Boba Fett appearance when asked. He suggested, “Let’s cherish these moments instead. I encourage everyone to reach out, be it by fax, letter, or email, to Lucasfilm. I’m confident they would appreciate the feedback: ‘Grant Daniel Logan and Temuera Morrison another opportunity and find a suitable role for them.’
The panel included Daniel Logan, famously known for his role as the young Boba Fett in “Attack of the Clones”, who expressed a somewhat hopeful outlook. “There’ll be plenty of chances,” Logan said. “Especially for him [Morrison], given this new era of Star Wars, such as Ahsoka, and all these post-Return of the Jedi stories.” Logan also playfully teased Morrison’s extensive Star Wars portfolio. “Star Wars is quite peculiar,” he quipped. “You never know about filming anything until just a week or even less than that, right? But let me tell you, Temuera is the most greedy Star Wars actor. He’s played more characters in Star Wars than anyone else – from Jango, Boba, all the Clones, Rex, Cody, Fives – he holds the record for the most characters in Star Wars.
Boba Fett Is Not Appearing in The Mandalorian & Grogu
It makes perfect sense for Boba Fett to return in the upcoming movie titled “The Mandalorian & Grogu“. This film follows the story of Din Djarin (played by Pedro Pascal), a character with whom Boba Fett shares a rich history, and picks up after the events of both The Mandalorian Season 3 and The Book of Boba Fett. Directed by Jon Favreau, this film is the latest theatrical release in the Star Wars franchise since 2019. The movie will continue the adventures of the Mandalorian and his Force-sensitive foundling, but there’s been no confirmation yet about whether actors like Temuera Morrison (Boba Fett) or Ming-Na Wen (Fennec Shand) will be involved in this production.
It seems that Morrison’s absence from future projects and Lucasfilm’s cautious approach could be due to the polarized reactions towards “The Book of Boba Fett.” While fans initially welcomed the return of the famous bounty hunter, they also criticized aspects like the uneven pacing, fluctuating tone, and episodes where Boba Fett took a back seat in favor of continuing The Mandalorian’s storyline. This split opinion might have led the studio to be more careful about when and how to utilize the character again, instead opting to center the new movie on Din Djarin and Grogu.
Regardless of the response the series received, Temuera Morrison remains an adored personality in the Star Wars fandom. A more suitable platform for Boba Fett’s comeback might be Dave Filoni’s upcoming Star Wars crossover film, which is slated to mark the conclusion of the New Republic period’s narrative. This movie will gather characters from The Mandalorian, Ahsoka, and other series to engage in a confrontation against Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen). Given that Boba Fett is a prominent criminal figure on Tatooine and an influential ally to Din Djarin, it would be conspicuous if he were missing from such a momentous intergalactic battle.
The Mandalorian & Grogu is scheduled to premiere in theaters on May 22, 2026.
