Updating the visuals of Ocarina of Time to meet today’s standards would be a significant undertaking. The Wind Waker, with its unique art style, would be much easier to update. In fact, Nintendo already did this with The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD for the Wii U in 2013. Given how popular the GameCube version still is, another updated release isn’t surprising. However, because an HD version already exists, Nintendo could simply release that version on newer consoles without making a big announcement.

Plus, you can already play Wind Waker on the Switch through the Nintendo Classics service. The game’s art style has also held up remarkably well over time – its cartoonish look still feels charming, unlike games that strive for realistic graphics which can quickly appear dated. To be honest, Wind Waker doesn’t really need a remake, and it doesn’t seem like Nintendo is planning one.

3. Twilight Princess Remaster

A remaster of The Twilight Princess would be a great option. Like The Wind Waker, it already received an HD update for the Wii U. However, a simple port to the Nintendo Classics service seems less likely because the game relied heavily on Wii motion controls. The Switch controller offers similar possibilities, making a Twilight Princess remaster for the Switch 2 a more appealing idea.

Revisiting this game could feel dated, considering all the improvements Nintendo has made to the Legend of Zelda series since Breath of the Wild. The Twilight Princess would also be a logical choice for a Nintendo Classics release, as it was the last first-party Zelda game for the GameCube. While a new Zelda title is more probable, The Twilight Princess seems like the most likely candidate for a remaster if Nintendo decides to go that route.

2. Project Bernard

An intriguing rumor suggests Nintendo is working on a new Zelda game under the codename “Project Bernard.” While Nintendo hasn’t officially confirmed this, a reliable source, Nash Weedle, points out that the game developer Grezzo often uses similar code names during development. For example, the Link’s Awakening remake was known as “Richard,” and Echoes of Wisdom was called “Edward.” This leads many to believe “Bernard” is a placeholder name for a new Zelda title, potentially featuring the same overhead perspective as Grezzo’s previous Zelda remakes.

Okay, this one’s tough because we can’t know what Nintendo’s really up to. But considering how well Grezzo works with Nintendo and how much experience they have with Zelda, I think they’re a strong contender for “Project Bernard.” If it is a Zelda game from them, I’m hoping for something new like Echoes of Wisdom, or maybe another fantastic remake like Link’s Awakening. Honestly, I’d be thrilled if it turned out to be a modern take on the Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons games – that would be amazing! It would finally explain all the rumors about “Bernard” being a compilation, too.

1. New Mainline Legend Of Zelda Game

Although Nintendo hasn’t officially announced a new Legend of Zelda game, it’s almost certain they’re developing one. Most likely, they’re working on the next main installment in the series. The long wait since Tears of the Kingdom makes sense if you consider how much time passed between the previous game and its announcement. Nintendo developers have also hinted at this, with Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma mentioning that the Hyrule Warriors games are shaping the direction of the next Zelda title.

It looks like Nintendo is planning something new with The Legend of Zelda. This could be a direct sequel to Tears of the Kingdom or a completely fresh game.
