Though I am an Inept Villainess Hypes Summer 2026 Debut With New Trailer
The anime series Though I Am an Inept Villainess will premiere on July 12th as part of the Summer 2026 season. Crunchyroll will stream the series for viewers in North and South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS countries. A new trailer has been released, showcasing the opening theme song, “Sunny,” by milet, and more of the show’s visually appealing setting inspired by historical China – a style that recently made The Apothecary Diaries very popular with fans.
The latest trailer reveals more actors joining the voice cast, including Rei Igarashi as Kou Kenshu, Ai Kayano as Shu Gabi, Mai Nakahara as Kin Seika, Inori Minase as Ran Hoshun, and Yui Ishikawa as Gen Kasui. They’ll be working alongside previously announced cast members like Manaka Iwami as Kou Reirin, Natsumi Kawaida as Shu Keigetsu, Makoto Furukawa as Ei Gyoumei, Yuichiro Umehara as Shin-U, Hana Hishikawa as Leelee, and Farahnaz Nikray as Kou Tousetsu. The series also boasts a talented production team.
What to Know for Though I am an Inept Villainess
Mitsue Yamazaki is directing the anime adaptation of Though I Am an Inept Villainess, with Doga Kobo animating the series. Yoshihoko Nakamura is handling series composition, Ai Kukuchi is designing the characters, and Yukari Hashimoto is composing the music. Doga Kobo is a well-respected studio known for visually impressive anime like Oshi no Ko and Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian, both of which have received positive feedback from fans.
While Though I Am an Inept Villainess is set in a similar historical fantasy world as The Apothecary Diaries, the two stories are quite different. This series focuses on the challenges faced by the emperor’s concubines as they compete for power, and centers around a villainess who unexpectedly swaps places with the favorite concubine. Surprisingly, this turn of events actually improves things for the woman who was replaced! Look out for the premiere this July.
