Fans are eagerly awaiting Season 3 of The Apothecary Diaries, but an official trailer hasn’t been released yet. The anime, which is based on Natsu Hyuga’s popular historical novels, finished its second season in July 2025. With excitement building, all eyes are on AnimeJapan 2026 – a huge anime and manga convention known for big announcements. This year’s event, featuring over 120 exhibitors like Aniplex, KADOKAWA, and Bandai Namco, will be held in Tokyo. Anime fans around the world look forward to AnimeJapan because it’s where many new and ongoing projects are revealed.
Like many other popular shows, The Apothecary Diaries will be part of the event, but international fans shouldn’t expect major announcements. The official anime website details the exhibition, taking place at Tokyo Big Sight from March 28th to 31st, 2026. It will feature photo opportunities and a cat-themed character greeting. However, the website doesn’t indicate any new information about the next anime season or the upcoming movie will be revealed. While things could change, there are currently no guarantees.
2026 Will Be a Huge Year For The Apothecary Diaries Fans

AnimeJapan 2026 didn’t offer much news about upcoming anime, but the rest of the year still looks promising for fans. Immediately after its first season ended, The Apothecary Diaries announced a sequel with a short, mysterious teaser, but didn’t give a release date. However, last October, for its second anniversary, the anime revealed that a third season will be split into two parts, with the first part premiering in Fall 2026, likely in early to mid-October.
The second part of the series will arrive in Spring 2027, following a short break during the winter. And there’s more good news: a movie based on the story is also planned, with a completely new plot written by the original author. The next season will start with book five of the light novel series, sending Jinshi and Maomao on a journey to solve a mystery. Season two significantly develops the growing romantic connection between Maomao and Jinshi while they face difficult obstacles. Following the failed rebellion of the Shi Clan, Maomao has returned to the Verdigris House and is now working as an apothecary, taking over her father’s role.
Jinshi has officially started his new role as a royal family member and the Moon Prince. He’s currently busy managing the fallout from the collapse of a major clan within the kingdom. The upcoming film will feature a completely original story, and details about the plot are currently unknown. It’s scheduled to be released in Japan in December 2026, with international release dates to be announced sometime after the Japanese premiere.
