Although the next season of *The Apothecary Diaries* isn’t out yet, the creators are keeping fans engaged with fun promotional content. Following the end of Season 2, they brought back the popular *Four Seasons With Maomao and Jinshi* project. Every month on the 22nd, the official website releases new artwork featuring Maomao and other favorite characters, each themed to a different season. In addition to this ongoing project, they’ve announced a Halloween-themed promotion, currently teasing character silhouettes. We’ll see full looks at the main characters before Halloween 2025.
Fans already know two of the figures are Maomao and Jinshi, but the identities of the others are still a secret. To celebrate, a Halloween-themed event with new character artwork will be held at Animate from November 15th to December 7th, offering a variety of merchandise. Last year’s event was very popular, and this year promises more new looks at the characters. Although this keeps fans excited about the series, the studio hasn’t yet announced whether there will be a sequel.
The Apothecary Diaries’ Anime Sequel Will Finally Move Forward With the Main Duo’s Relationship

Season two concludes the fourth book in the series, and the anime will continue Maomao’s story with new obstacles in the future. Following the failed rebellion of the Shi Clan, Maomao returns to work as an apothecary at the Verdigris House, and Jinshi officially begins his responsibilities as the Moon Prince. While they both face new challenges, their bond continues to deepen. Throughout the season, Maomao and Jinshi have grown closer, and by the end, Jinshi is much more willing to express his feelings.
With his feelings now revealed, he’s stopped trying to conceal his attraction to her. Maomao, however, seems as calm as ever, continuing to look after him in her own way, and it’s still hard to know what she truly thinks. The story will continue in the northern farming villages, where a serious problem is developing, and Jinshi needs Maomao’s help to figure out what’s going on.
The studio hasn’t shared many details about the next installment yet. They’ve only announced an “anime sequel,” not a “Season 3,” which leaves fans wondering what form it will take. The manga is continuing from the fourth novel volume-where Jinshi leads the army against a rebellion-but the anime just finished airing in July. That means we’ll probably hear more official news in the coming months.
