Batman is famous for his incredible gadgets, and some are as well-known as the hero himself. But one particularly cool tool from the 2022 film The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson, doesn’t get enough attention.

Three years after its release, one gadget from Pattinson’s Batman – still early in his crime-fighting career – deserves much more recognition. While he hadn’t yet acquired iconic tools like batarangs, this particular device was really impressive.

The Batman’s Greatest Gadgets Are His Advanced Contact Lenses

Bruce Wayne’s high-tech contact lenses are a clever addition to the character, fitting perfectly with the detective focus of Matt Reeves’ first Batman film. They’re arguably one of the best upgrades ever made for a live-action Batman.

Bruce Wayne’s lenses, first seen during his investigation of the mayor’s crime scene, record both video and audio of everything he sees. This allows Batman to revisit the evidence in the Batcave and carefully analyze clues.

Okay, so the tech Batman uses isn’t always about huge, showy vehicles like the Batmobile – sometimes it’s the simple stuff that really shines. Take his contact lenses, for example. They’re incredible! I mean, he even gets Catwoman to wear a pair when she’s scoping out the Iceberg Lounge. He basically sees through her eyes, guiding her and getting access to places he couldn’t reach on his own. It’s a genius way for him to gather intel and get evidence firsthand, all remotely. It’s not about brute force; it’s about smarts!

What really struck me about these lenses is how cleverly they address a simple truth: our memories aren’t perfect. They don’t just show Batman information, they essentially give him a perfect recall of everything he sees, turning his vision into the most incredible crime-solving device imaginable. It’s a really smart way to visually represent his detective skills.

Even though people talked about the missing batarangs or the lack of high-tech gadgets, the movie’s focus on Bruce Wayne’s detective skills was really impressive. That’s what made The Batman so great, in my opinion.

Will The Batman’s Arsenal Expand In Part II?

Robert Pattinson’s Batman is relatively new to the role, so there’s a lot of potential for his gadgets and technology to become more advanced. While director Matt Reeves aims for a realistic feel, that doesn’t mean Batman won’t get more of the classic tools we expect. The next movie, The Batman – Part II, could be the ideal opportunity to show him developing a wider range of equipment.

Beyond the single batarang seen in the 2022 film The Batman, we might finally see Batman use a variety of throwable batarangs. There’s also potential for improvements to the Batmobile, and even changes to the cape that could allow Batman to glide more smoothly between buildings.

As a huge Batman fan, I can’t wait to see what he comes up with next! He’s constantly surprising us with new gadgets and tools, and I have a feeling he’s far from finished innovating. It’s going to be so exciting to watch!
