Professional wrestling has been significantly shaped by Latino culture and wrestlers. Lucha libre, the exciting Mexican style of wrestling, has a history stretching back over a century, and many of today’s high-flying moves are inspired by Latino wrestlers from the past. While we’ve previously highlighted influential Hispanic stars in WWE, this time I want to focus on the current talent in both WWE and AEW.
Both WWE and AEW have a lot of talented Latino wrestlers. While we miss Eddie Guerrero – remember that surprising storyline with Dominik Mysterio years ago? – there’s still plenty of exciting Latino performers bringing energy to the ring every week. Here’s a look at some of the best Latino wrestlers working in those promotions today!
Rey Mysterio (WWE)
Rey Mysterio, famous for his signature 619 maneuver, is one of the most well-known lucha libre wrestlers globally. He’s unique in WWE because, at a listed 5’6″, he’s relatively small for a world champion, yet he’s won the World Heavyweight Title several times.
He earned his place in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2023 – though his son, Dominik, famously protested by leaving the ceremony! Now, he’s wrestling with the LWO (Latino World Order) on Raw. Truly a wrestling icon.

Dominik Mysterio (WWE)
Dominik Mysterio, also known as “Dirty” Dom,” really knows how to get a reaction from the crowd – they even sell toilet paper with his face on it! Coming from a wrestling family – his father is a famous wrestler, and he was part of a famous storyline as a child involving Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero – Dominik now leans into the idea that Eddie Guerrero might actually be his father. He does this through his look, sporting a mullet, and his wrestling style.
Mysterio is still officially part of The Judgment Day, but a recent elbow injury from Andrade led to a surprising storyline with Liv Morgan, which upset Rhea Ripley. Things didn’t go Mysterio’s way at the Bash in Berlin event, as he and Morgan were defeated by Ripley and Damian Priest. It just goes to show, you can’t always win, no matter how you play the game.

Thunder Rosa (AEW)
Thunder Rosa, known as La Mera Mera, proudly displays her background – often with half her face painted – and fans appreciate her authenticity.
Throughout her time with AEW, Thunder Rosa has faced setbacks due to injuries, but she remains a captivating performer because she’s always willing to do whatever it takes to win. Her recent Tijuana Street Fight against Mariah May at the Worlds End pay-per-view – which even attracted some former WWE wrestlers backstage – is a perfect example. Though she didn’t win that match, she fought hard, and that’s just her style – she’s a fighter, through and through.

Damian Priest (WWE)
Damian Priest, previously part of The Judgment Day, trained in Goju-ryu karate, which is evident in his powerful wrestling style – he frequently throws opponents with impressive force. He first gained attention in WWE with NXT, where he quickly established himself as a dominant force, notably with an early win against Keith Lee.
He’s now focused on winning championship titles again. He previously held the World Heavyweight Championship, but lost it to Gunther. Interestingly, that loss led to a change in his character, making him a fan favorite. Currently, he’s in a rivalry with Finn Bálor while also trying to win back the title from Gunther. It will be interesting to see what happens next.

Bayley (WWE)
Bayley, the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble winner and a former member of Damage CTRL, is a remarkably versatile wrestler – she excels at playing both a hero and a villain. She began her WWE journey in NXT, even wrestling her first match wearing a Luchadora mask, and has since transformed from an endearing fan into the powerful performer she is now. That kind of skill is truly impressive.
Bayley previously won the WWE Women’s Championship and successfully defended it against opponents like Naomi, Tiffany Stratton, and Piper Niven. She eventually lost the title to Nia Jax at SummerSlam, with some help from Stratton. However, Bayley got her revenge at Survivor Series WarGames, defeating Jax, Stratton, and others with teammates Rhea Ripley and Naomi. Most fans believe it won’t be long before Bayley is champion once again.

Sammy Guevara (AEW)
As a wrestling fan, I’ve been really impressed with Sammy Guevara. He calls himself ‘The Spanish God,’ and honestly, he backs it up – he’s one of the most thrilling performers in AEW. Lately, I’ve been enjoying seeing him team up with a legend like Dustin Rhodes, especially with their work in Ring of Honor too.
Alongside Rhodes, he captured the ROH tag team championship by defeating The Undisputed Kingdom. This is particularly meaningful as he and Dustin Rhodes both hail from Texas, and together they formed the “Sons of Texas” stable, which also includes Marshall and Ross Von Erich – the sons of the legendary wrestling family featured in the acclaimed film, *The Iron Claw*. Guevara consistently delivers exciting matches, so whenever his music hits, fans know they’re in for a great show.

Andrade (WWE)
As a dedicated AEW fan, I was disappointed to see Andrade leave. However, it felt like a return home for him, similar to CM Punk’s situation. He previously wrestled in WWE before joining AEW, and now he’s back in WWE after appearing in the 2024 Royal Rumble.
Since coming back, Andrade has been involved in rivalries with Dominik Mysterio and Carmelo Hayes (with LA Knight chiming in on the latter). He moved to SmackDown, briefly held the WWE’s online ‘Speed Championship’ before losing it to Dragon Lee, and overall, seems much more prominent than he was during his time in AEW. He’s also married to wrestling star Charlotte Flair, the daughter of Ric Flair, which is great news! So, let’s hear a ‘WOOO!’ for that.

Zelina Vega (WWE)
Zelina Vega, known as Queen Zelina, has had a notable career since joining WWE in 2017. She initially gained recognition managing Andrade, and was known for her involvement in matches, frequently using her signature hurricanrana move, before his departure to AEW.
Now a part of the LWO, Zelina Vega is incredibly versatile – she can not only wrestle, but also act, having played AJ Lee in the film *Fighting With My Family*. Long live the Queen!

Raquel Rodriguez (WWE)
Like Diesel once protected Shawn Michaels, Rodriguez previously worked as a bodyguard for Dakota Kai. After a long break, she made her return at the Bad Blood pay-per-view event in 2024.
Rhea Ripley is a powerful and imposing figure, and she adds a lot of strength to The Judgment Day. While she didn’t win against Bayley, Iyo Sky, and Naomi at WarGames, she’s determined to beat them in the future – she’s simply too skilled not to.

Rush (AEW)
Rush, formerly part of the Don Callis Family and now leading La Faccion Igobernable, is a truly imposing wrestler. He’s wrestled for major promotions like CMLL, ROH, and NJPW, but currently competes in AEW.
Given how capable Rush is against anyone in AEW, it made sense that he was chosen as MJF’s first opponent upon his return. Similar to Dominik Mysterio, Rush has a strong wrestling family background – his father is known as La Bestia del Ring, and his brothers currently wrestle as Dragon Lee in WWE and Draslitico in AEW. Which brings us to…

Dralistico (AEW)
Dralistico is a unique wrestler – he’s unusually tall for someone who moves with such speed and agility in the ring. He perfectly combines the powerful, aggressive style of his brother Rush with the acrobatic moves of Dragon Lee. It makes him incredibly exciting to watch.
Dralistico, originally known as Dragon Lee (he later passed the name on to his brother), is making a big impact alongside wrestlers like Rush and The Beast Mortos. The energy is fantastic! If you’re curious about why I love lucha libre, I highly recommend watching the Jack Black movie *Nacho Libre* – it’s a classic.

Dragon Lee (WWE)
Lee, the current WWE Speed Champion and a member of the LWO (also known as Dragon!), gained experience wrestling in several major promotions like CMLL, NJPW, ROH, and even AEW before joining WWE.
After starting in NXT, he quickly moved to the main WWE roster following a rivalry with Dominik Mysterio. Now, he’s becoming known as one of the best high-flying luchadores in the company, and it’s great to see him wrestling with the legendary Rey Mysterio.
While many talented Latino wrestlers compete across various promotions, I wanted to focus primarily on these two major companies. Keep checking back for the latest wrestling news and updates!
