The 16 TV Shows We’re Looking Forward to in 2026

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (HBO)

Even though Game of Thrones finished a few years ago, its spin-off shows are just starting to gain momentum. In addition to the upcoming third season of House of the Dragon – expected to arrive this year – we’re also getting A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, a new prequel series based on George R.R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg stories. The show stars Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall (Dunk), a knight of humble origins, and Dexter Sol Ansell as his young companion, Prince Aegon Targaryen (Egg). Set about 100 years before the events of Game of Thrones and shortly after the current storyline in House of the Dragon ends, it’s time to update your A Song of Ice and Fire timeline!

Cape Fear (Apple TV)

Fans of suspenseful dramas will be excited about the new Apple TV+ series, a reimagining of Cape Fear. The show follows a man recently released from prison who is determined to get revenge on the lawyer who helped convict him. While not a direct remake of the novel or previous films, it draws inspiration from all three versions while updating the story for today’s audience. The series stars Javier Bardem, Amy Adams, and Patrick Wilson, and is created by Nick Antosca, known for his work on shows like Channel Zero, Hannibal, and the Netflix miniseries Brand New Cherry Flavor.

Carrie (Prime Video)

It seems like every generation gets its own version of Carrie. Stephen King’s classic novel has already been made into four movies and a musical, but now it’s coming to television for the first time. The new miniseries on Prime Video stars Summer H. Howell as Carrie White, a high school student with telekinetic powers who gets revenge on those who torment her – and yes, expect a lot of pig’s blood! This adaptation is, unsurprisingly, led by horror expert Mike Flanagan, who also brought us other King adaptations like Doctor Sleep, Gerald’s Game, and The Life of Chuck.

Crystal Lake (Peacock)

The highly anticipated series Crystal Lake, a prequel to the Friday the 13th movies, is coming to Peacock, distributed by A24. Originally developed by Bryan Fuller (Hannibal), he was let go after the 2023 Writers Guild strike when A24 decided to change the show’s creative direction. Now, with Bradley Caleb Kane (who worked on last year’s IT: Welcome to Derry) as showrunner, we’ll soon be able to watch the new series.

East of Eden (Netflix)

Following the success of shows like Bridgerton, Netflix is releasing several miniseries based on classic novels this year. While an adaptation of Edith Wharton’s The Age of Innocence is expected later in the year, the streaming service’s take on John Steinbeck’s East of Eden is particularly anticipated. Written and produced by Zoe Kazan, the series boasts a stellar cast including Florence Pugh, Christopher Abbott, Mike Faist, Tracy Letts, and Ciaran Hinds – and likely many other talented actors – so it’s definitely one to watch.

Euphoria Season 3 (HBO)

Many fans wondered if it would ever return, but Sam Levinson’s hit show Euphoria is coming back for a third – and probably final – season this spring. The main cast, including Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, and Eric Dane, will all be back. The new season jumps ahead five years, showing what happened after the characters finished high school. We’ll find Rue struggling with debt in a foreign country, Cassie and Nate are married, and Jules is pursuing her art in school.

Industry Season 4 (HBO)

The financial drama Industry returns this year with a new season. The ambitious young professionals are back, and they’re even more cutthroat than before as they navigate the high-stakes world of banking. Harper, now leading her own firm, is focused on dismantling a new payment company trying to become a legitimate bank. Meanwhile, Yasmin is discovering the realities of life among the super-rich after marrying into aristocracy, and their former boss, Eric, is enjoying retirement – though that might not last.

Lanterns (HBO)

This year, the new DC Universe is growing with the release of Lanterns, a fresh take on Green Lantern – the first major adaptation since the 2011 film. Kyle Chandler will play the experienced Green Lantern Hal Jordan, while Aaron Pierre joins as new recruit John Stewart. Together, they’ll investigate a puzzling murder in Nebraska. The series also stars Kelly Macdonald as a local sheriff and Nathan Fillion returning as Guy Gardner. It was created by Chris Mundy, comic writer Tom King, and Damon Lindelof, known for his work on Lost and Watchmen.

Neuromancer (Apple TV)

Apple TV is adding another potentially excellent sci-fi series to its lineup with an adaptation of William Gibson’s groundbreaking 1984 novel, Neuromancer. This book is widely considered to have popularized the cyberpunk genre. Callum Turner plays Case, a small-time criminal who has lost his ability to connect to virtual reality. He gets a chance to regain that access—and a lot more—when he accepts a dangerous hacking job from a mysterious ex-military figure. Soon, he’s caught in a deadly game where survival depends on navigating a complex web of intrigue.

The Pitt Season 2 (HBO Max)

The popular medical drama is returning for a second season, continuing its fast-paced, real-time format and intense storylines. Noah Wyle reprises his role as Dr. Robby in The Pitt, now set during a chaotic Fourth of July. Expect plenty of graphic injuries, just like last season! Each episode will unfold over one hour in the emergency room of a Pittsburgh hospital, following the doctors – both new and experienced – as they treat a wide range of serious injuries while also dealing with their own personal lives.

Pride and Prejudice (Netflix)

I’m so excited for the year ahead, especially as a huge fan of both Netflix and classic novels! They’re finally adapting Pride and Prejudice, and it feels long overdue considering how well their period dramas have been doing. I can’t wait to see Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennet and Jack Lowden as the captivating Mr. Darcy. Plus, the supporting cast is incredible – Olivia Colman, Rufus Sewell, Fiona Shaw, and Louis Partridge? Yes, please! It’s going to be a fantastic show.

Spider-Noir (Prime Video)

Nicolas Cage is reprising his role as Spider-Man Noir, the popular character from Sony’s animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, in a new live-action TV show. Spider-Noir takes place in a 1930s New York City and follows Ben Reilly, an older private investigator who also happens to be a superhero. He investigates crimes while grappling with a mysterious past. Unlike the animated Spider-Verse, this series is filmed in black and white to capture the feel of classic film noir. It’s looking like one of the most original superhero shows of the year.

Star City (Apple TV)

Fans of Apple TV+’s acclaimed sci-fi series, For All Mankind, which imagines an alternate history of the Space Race, have another reason to be excited: a new spinoff called Star City. Also created by Ronald D. Moore, Star City will be set in a Soviet cosmonaut training center and will explore the Soviet Union’s role in space exploration in greater detail. While details are still limited, the cast includes Rhys Ifans, Anna Maxwell Martin, and Ruby Ashbourne Serkis.

Ted Lasso Season 4 (Apple TV)

The popular Apple TV+ comedy Ted Lasso will return for one last season, despite wrapping up its main storylines about the world of football in Season 3. The announcement came at the start of 2025, and most of the original cast – including Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, Juno Temple, and Jeremy Swift – are expected to reprise their roles. While details about the plot are still under wraps, viewers can likely anticipate plenty of football action, lighthearted humor, and touching moments between the characters.

The Terror: Devil in Silver (AMC)

Fans of scary TV have something to look forward to this year! A new season of The Terror, titled Devil in Silver, is coming to AMC. Based on Victor LaValle’s novel of the same name, the story follows a man mistakenly sent to a mental asylum who suspects a terrifying presence—the Devil himself—is lurking within its walls. The season will feature a talented cast including Dan Stevens, Judith Light, CCH Pounder, Stephen Root, and Aasif Mandvi.

The Testaments (Hulu)

Just when viewers thought they were done with the world of Gilead, Hulu is continuing the story with The Testaments, a new series based on Margaret Atwood’s 2019 sequel novel. Set five years after the end of The Handmaid’s Tale, the show will focus on a new generation of women who’ve grown up knowing nothing of the time before Gilead and are now facing its harsh realities. Ann Dowd will return as the formidable Aunt Lydia, and Chase Infiniti will star as Agnes Mackenzie, the daughter of June from the original series.
