If you’re familiar with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, you know the game offered a lot beyond the initial release, with free downloadable content adding things like new clothes, quests, and a New Game Plus mode. Now, a new project called The Blood of Dawnwalker, created by some of the original developers from CD Projekt RED, is planning to do something similar – expand the experience with extra content.
In an interview with PAP Biznes, CEO Konrad Tomaszkiewicz explained that the team is planning a schedule for releasing free downloadable content (DLC). He stated they’ve just begun discussing potential paid add-ons and are working on a plan and timeline for smaller, free additions, but haven’t made any final decisions yet.
Okay, so the team making The Blood of Dawnwalker is way smaller than the one behind The Witcher 3, so it makes sense they’re really focused on getting this one right. Honestly, it’s not as huge a game as Geralt’s last adventure, but it’s actually turned out bigger than they originally planned! They thought it’d take around 30-40 hours to beat, but players are averaging closer to 50, and that can easily change depending on how you like to play and the difficulty you choose.
Creative director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz noted that team members who have recently completed the game took significantly different amounts of time to finish it, ranging from about 50 to 70 hours.
If you’re skilled, you can finish the game much faster. It’ll be challenging, but achievable. Once you’ve experienced everything Vale Sangora has to offer as a good character, consider replaying the game as the villainous Coen and causing trouble for the townspeople.
I’m super excited because The Blood of Dawnwalker is coming out on September 3rd for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC! I just checked out a longer gameplay video, and it looks awesome – especially the ability to turn into a wolf to get around faster when it’s dark. Definitely something I’m looking forward to!
