As of today, *Bob’s Burgers* has reached an impressive milestone: 300 episodes! What’s even better is that the show doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon. Earlier this year, Disney renewed the series for four more seasons, meaning it will continue airing through 2029. At New York Comic Con, series creator Loren Bouchard discussed how they plan to keep the show fresh and meet fans’ expectations. He explained that while a large renewal order can be stressful, they already feel the pressure to deliver from the show’s dedicated fanbase.
Bouchard explained the immense pressure they’re under while making the show. It’s not about the quantity of episodes, but the fact that they’ve already created so much content. Fans are rewatching everything, often very soon after it’s released, and they remember details incredibly well. This means the creators can’t reuse old ideas or repeat themselves. They’re constantly trying to create something new and original while also building on past successes, which is becoming increasingly difficult – that’s where the pressure comes from.
The popular animated show *Bob’s Burgers* released its first feature film in 2022, a common milestone for long-running TV series. While critics loved *The Bob’s Burgers Movie*, it didn’t become a huge box office hit and found most of its viewers after becoming available to stream. Despite this, the creators are still thinking about making another movie. Following the announcement that *The Simpsons* is getting a sequel, creator Loren Bouchard confirmed he’s definitely interested in a second *Bob’s Burgers* movie, though a timeline for its production is still uncertain.
We haven’t heard anything yet, but it was a really enjoyable experience. Creating that project was beneficial for everyone involved, and it really helped the show. I’d happily work on something similar again.
Bouchard shared that even after many seasons, there aren’t any plans to end *Bob’s Burgers*. They’ll keep making new episodes as long as people continue to watch and enjoy the show, but this creates a bit of a challenge for the writers.
Bouchard explained that actively planning an ending felt unappealing. She feels it’s a situation where she’ll continue as long as there’s still demand, even though she’s feeling burnt out. She joked that she’ll just have to rely on vitamins to keep going.
If you ever happen to meet H. Jon Benjamin, the voice of Bob Belcher, there’s one question you should absolutely avoid: don’t ask him what his favorite Burger of the Day is. Apparently, he really doesn’t like being asked that!
We always have at least one story to tell on the show, often more. I really should prepare a few go-to anecdotes, like knowing my favorite daily burger, but I always draw a blank when someone asks!
