2026 promises a lot of superhero content, with new movies like Avengers: Doomsday and Supergirl hitting theaters, and the second seasons of Daredevil: Born Again and Lanterns coming to streaming. However, we’re most excited about the fifth and final season of The Boys, which premieres in April on Prime Video. The season four finale hinted at an incredible season, and the newly released trailer confirms it will be even more action-packed and shocking than anyone anticipated.
The trailer for the fifth and final season of The Boys dropped on Thursday, and it’s surprisingly more creepy than gory. It shows Homelander consolidating his power and hints at his disturbing goals, as well as the frightening new reality he’s building. Although The Boys were in a tough spot at the end of the last season, the trailer suggests they’re not finished fighting. You can watch the action-filled trailer below.
The Boys Final Season Looks to Have More Political and Social Commentary Than Ever
The latest trailer for The Boys reveals a lot, but a key focus is Homelander’s desire for V1 – the original formula for Compound V, which would grant him immortality. Given his already inflated sense of power, achieving immortality would solidify his complete control, and that’s exactly what he wants. The trailer also depicts people being rounded up and forced onto buses headed to what are called “Freedom Camps,” while Homelander speaks about preparing the country for his rise to power.
The trailer has several standout scenes, including the return of Soldier Boy and a heated confrontation between him and Hughie. There are also some funny moments, like the uncomfortable reunion between Homelander and Soldier Boy when Homelander revives him, and A-Train’s surprised reaction to Kimiko speaking. Plus, The Deep’s podcast continues to provide some comedic relief.
The most intriguing part of this trailer isn’t what it does show, but what it leaves out. It avoids giving away too much about where the final season is headed, and surprisingly, it’s light on intense action – even the one explosion feels mild for The Boys. This careful approach hints that the final season will be completely unrestrained, and that when the show returns on April 8th, the events will be far more shocking than we expect – and we’re eagerly anticipating it.
The Boys fifth and final season debuts April 8th on Prime Video.
