Maggie Gyllenhaal is directing again, following her critically acclaimed 2021 film, The Lost Daughter. This time, she’s tackling a horror movie based on a classic, well-known Gothic novel.
Mary Shelley’s *Frankenstein* is considered a groundbreaking work of early science fiction and remains highly influential today.
Many movies have been made based on this story, but the newest one is trying something a little different. Instead of centering on the scientist or the monster, it will focus on the monster’s Bride, drawing inspiration from the 1935 film *Bride of Frankenstein*.
A really unusual trailer has just been released, so you might be wondering when you can see “The Bride” in UK cinemas. Keep reading to find out!
The Bride! release date – when does the film come out?
Originally scheduled for release in the fall of 2025, the movie *The Bride!* will now be released globally on March 6, 2026. This change is due to several production setbacks, including the 2023 strikes by SAG-AFTRA and the WGA.
Production of ‘The Bride!’ hit a snag when Netflix cancelled the project due to budget concerns, but Warner Bros. picked it up instead. Luckily, this change allowed Maggie Gyllenhaal to film in New York City, which was her first choice for a location.
The Bride! cast – who stars?
The new film, ‘The Bride!’, features Jessie Buckley as Frankenstein’s bride. Buckley previously worked with director Maggie Gyllenhaal in ‘The Lost Daughter’. Christian Bale plays Frankenstein’s monster in the movie.
The film stars several well-known actors, including Peter Sarsgaard as a detective, Annette Bening as Dr. Euphronious, and Penélope Cruz as Myrna. Jake Gyllenhaal also joins the cast, though his character is currently being kept secret.
