One of The Conjuring’s most infamous characters is making waves.
Intriguingly, this event doesn’t seem to be connected with the ending of the movie series “The Conjuring: The Last Rites”. This surprising incident happened just before actors Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, who portray the renowned psychic investigators Ed Warren and Lorraine Warren, were set to make their final appearance. Tragically, paranormal researcher Dan Rivera passed away unexpectedly during a tour across the country featuring Annabelle, the allegedly haunted doll associated with the late couple.
Yet, Wilson doesn’t assume that the disturbances Annabelle was part of in July regarding Rivera’s demise are more significant than they appear.
In my own words, I always refrain from exaggerating events as they unfold in the real world. There are numerous occurrences that remain a mystery to me. As I work with genuine individuals, families, and companions, these personal relationships overshadow all else. (Spoken by myself)
Indeed, Wilson and his longtime co-star have a close association with the eerie Raggedy Ann doll, as their investigation into Annabelle sparked the beginning of the Conjuring franchise in 2013 – an eventuality that later led to the doll having her own spinoff.
54-year-old Rivera was associated with the Warren family as he belonged to the New England Society for Psychic Research (NESPR), an organization established by the couple in 1952. Unfortunately, Ed passed away in 2006, and Lorraine followed suit in 2019.
NESPR’s spooky exploits are depicted in the “Conjuring” movie series. Interestingly, the final film, “Last Rites,” is inspired by the Warrens’ encounters with the Smurl family from Pennsylvania, who asserted that they were subjected to harassment and even physical attacks by supernatural entities within their home during the 1970s and 1980s.
The memorable paranormal incident encapsulates what has made “The Conjuring” series popular among horror enthusiasts, delivering an appropriate grand finale for the Warrens on the big screen. Despite Farmiga’s comment that there was no sense of nostalgia, poignancy, or heartwarming sentimentality in her and Wilson’s last moments together during filming.
In a casual conversation, one might say, “Contrary to what one might expect, there wasn’t a grand goodbye scene between us. It was quite simple actually, as both of us were drained after the long filming process. Viggo Wilson finished earlier on set and just walked past me, almost like two exhausted zombies exchanging a brief glance before he departed.” (This quote is inspired by The Departed actress’s statement.)
