Two of the biggest anime series right now, Jujutsu Kaisen and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, are dominating the scene, making it hard for other shows to stand out. However, a new dark fantasy action series is quickly gaining popularity and has actually climbed higher in the rankings, earning better ratings for three episodes in a row. This is surprising considering how well the latest seasons of both Jujutsu Kaisen and Frieren have been received. Jujutsu Kaisen is deep into its exciting Culling Game arc – a massive battle tournament – while Frieren Season 2 started with powerful emotional storytelling and has now launched into a significant new story arc.
Currently, Hell’s Paradise Season 2 is the top-rated anime according to fans. In fact, its last three episodes have received higher scores on IMDb than recent episodes of both Jujutsu Kaisen and Frieren. Each of those Hell’s Paradise episodes has an IMDb rating above 9, while Frieren‘s recent episodes haven’t reached that level, and only one episode of Jujutsu Kaisen has scored above a 9. This success is a bit surprising, but Hell’s Paradise Season 2 seems to have found a winning combination that’s really connecting with viewers, making it a standout anime right now.
Hell’s Paradise’s Latest Three Episodes Outrank Jujutsu Kaisen and Frieren
Lately, anime that really dives into mature and emotionally heavy stories have been getting a lot of attention. And honestly, Hell’s Paradise feels like one of the most intense shows on right now, even if it’s far from a realistic portrayal of things. The story always had a really gritty edge – it follows a group of criminals and the people tasked with executing them as they risk everything on a dangerous journey to find a way to live forever on a mysterious, deadly island. This season, though, it’s taken that darkness to a whole new level, and the animation quality has noticeably improved, similar to what we saw with Season 3 of Jujutsu Kaisen. MAPPA really seems to be stepping up their game.
What’s really made the last three episodes exciting is the significant improvement in the action scenes. The fights are intense and realistic, with a real sense of danger. We learn about the characters’ pasts even during these battles, which makes the fighting feel more impactful and emotionally resonant. As a result, Hell’s Paradise is currently a standout action fantasy, even surpassing popular series like Jujutsu Kaisen and Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End.
I’ve been watching the anime scene closely, and while Hell’s Paradise Season 2 is doing incredibly well, it’s hard to say if it’s definitively better than Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 or Frieren Season 2 right now. A lot depends on when you’re watching. Hell’s Paradise is at its most exciting point right now, but Jujutsu Kaisen and Frieren have been building up to big moments. Now that those shows have set the stage, the competition for the best anime of the season could really heat up. Still, Hell’s Paradise‘s success is noticeable. It’s climbing the ranks, even beating out popular shows like Gachiakuta on Crunchyroll, and it seems like it’s finally getting the attention it deserves.
