The DCU Already Has a Villain More Dangerous Than Lex Luthor

The DC Universe is establishing its villains as major forces. In *Creature Commandos*, the team is tasked with protecting Princess Ilana Rostovic of Pokolistan from a dangerous group called the Sons of Themyscira. However, it’s soon revealed that the Princess is actually the mastermind behind everything, with plans to conquer the world. While Amanda Waller has a terrifying vision of this villain standing over fallen heroes, she isn’t the biggest danger to the DC Universe. That title belongs to Lex Luthor, who begins enacting a massive plan in *Superman*.

Lex Luthor, despite his immense wealth and power, is obsessed with eliminating Superman. He thinks Superman isn’t actually helping people, but rather encouraging dependence, and Luthor refuses to allow that. This hatred drives him to the point where he risks global destruction by creating a dangerous portal in Metropolis. While Mister Terrific manages to close the portal just in time, Luthor’s actions still have repercussions. And it seems another DC character is willing to cause some damage of their own, as they’re planning to follow Luthor’s lead.

Rick Flag Sr. Is After More Than Just Peacemaker

After saving the world in Season 1 of *Peacemaker*, Christopher Smith earns favor with the U.S. government and is allowed to return to a normal life, spending time with friends and even interviewing for a position with the Justice League. However, the new head of A.R.G.U.S., Rick Flag Sr., secretly plots against him, seeking revenge for his son’s death. Peacemaker unknowingly gives Flag an opportunity when he enters the Quantum Unfolding Chamber in his father’s house, triggering alarms at A.R.G.U.S. When initial attempts to capture him fail, Flag tasks Emilia Harcourt with luring Peacemaker in, as seen in Season 2, Episode 4.

Everything goes smoothly, and Flag finally gets a private moment with Peacemaker. However, John Economos interrupts, scheduling a meeting of his own. Surprisingly, Flag isn’t bothered. He confides in Sasha Bordeaux that he’s more interested in securing the Quantum Unfolding Chamber than talking to Peacemaker. While Flag insists he wants to prevent another disaster like the one in Metropolis, his sense of morality seems flexible, and he might reconsider his priorities once he understands the threats hidden within the multiverse.

The DCU Multiverse Is Either Going to Tempt or Corrupt Rick Flag Sr.

It’s unexpected to see Flag craving power, especially since he initially comes across as a good person in *Creature Commandos*. The recent trouble with Lex Luthor likely showed him how vulnerable he is. To gain an advantage, he wants access to information from across the entire multiverse. His plan is to send A.R.G.U.S. agents to investigate every possible reality and report back, allowing the United States to be prepared for any threat and avoid being surprised by another power-hungry villain.

Traveling to other universes could be overwhelming for Rick Flag. The universe Peacemaker is trying to reach already has its own Rick Flag Jr., and he’s still alive and working for A.R.G.U.S. However, this alternate reality might actually be a version of Earth-X, a world filled with Nazis who want to eliminate anyone who doesn’t fit their ideals. If that’s true, Flag might destroy that entire universe to protect his son’s reputation. Once he has the power to do so, there’s no telling which other realities he might decide to erase if they don’t meet his standards.

Peacemaker Season 2 is streaming on HBO Max.
