The Division 2 Year 8 Will Bring Crossplay, PvP-Focused Balance Changes, New Incursion and DLC

Ubisoft has shared a new trailer detailing plans for a year of updates to its online shooter, The Division 2. The first set of new content, called Season 1: Rise Up, will launch in April. The trailer, which is just over three minutes long, features game director Alexandru Birzanu explaining the team’s commitment to providing a full year of engaging content for players.

The first season of Year 8 in The Division 2 will focus on Agents battling the Black Tusk again. It will also introduce new ways to increase the difficulty of the game and allow players to become more powerful.

Year 8 of The Division 2 will include exciting new events, improvements, gear, and weapons. Players have asked for things like better balance for PvP, new content, cross-platform play, and the return of Classified Assignments with fresh stories and missions – and we’re delivering! We’re also adding a second Incursion, set at the Steel Creek hydroelectric dam and power station.

The trailer revealed more about The Division 2: Survivors, first announced in August 2025. This new mode will include updates and enhancements, and takes place in Washington DC during a severe snowstorm. According to game director Andrada Grecuic, the team is making solid progress, aiming to create a realistic experience where the cold significantly affects gameplay. They’re actively developing Survivors with player feedback through closed testing and are pleased with the results so far.

The trailer ends by hinting at new downloadable content coming later this year. Although details are limited, the preview suggests the DLC will focus on a character tracking down SHD agents.

Back in January, Ubisoft announced plans for the eighth year of content for The Division 2. According to game designer Raul-Sebastian Birnoschi, players can expect exciting new reveals, updated gameplay, and difficult challenges.

So, this month we’re getting a cool limited-time mode called Realism Mode! The creative director, Yannick Banchereau, said it’s all about fast-paced, realistic combat – bullets actually feel dangerous and damage depends on what kind of gun you’re using. But here’s the catch: you’ll have to start a totally new agent because it’s ditching all the RPG stuff we love in The Division 2, like leveling up and grinding for loot. It’s a fresh start, focusing purely on the action!
