Don’t expect The Elder Scrolls 6 to come out anytime soon. Bethesda’s Todd Howard has confirmed the game is still years away from release.
Bethesda’s Todd Howard recently told GQ that Fallout 4 wasn’t nearly finished when it was released, speaking in an interview about the game’s 10th anniversary and current projects at the company.
“I’m preaching patience,” he said. “I don’t want fans to feel anxious.”
After fundraising for Make-A-Wish, Howard revealed they playtested The Elder Scrolls 6 for three hours and that a character created during the event might appear in the final game. He clarified, however, that this doesn’t mean the game is near release and that he’d prefer a different approach to announcing the game when the time comes.
Howard explained he prefers to reveal and launch projects unexpectedly. Ideally, he envisions a long period of silence followed by the sudden, unannounced release of the game – though he admits this isn’t necessarily what will happen.
When questioned about a surprise release similar to the April release of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, Howard didn’t dismiss the possibility.
“You might say that was a test run,” he said. “It worked out well.”
