According to People magazine, the FBI has given back several stolen items to John Wick actor Keanu Reeves, including a valuable costume from his movies. Six expensive watches were taken from Reeves’ home in Los Angeles last December. The FBI announced at a press conference on Tuesday that the items had been returned to Reeves.
Among the items stolen was Reeves’ Rolex Submariner, an engraved watch worth at least $9,500. The FBI believes the robbery was committed by “South American Theft Groups” – criminal organizations that travel from South American countries to commit thefts in the U.S. and elsewhere. The stolen watches later appeared in Santiago, Chile, in December 2024.
Chilean authorities have arrested one person and, on July 29th, confirmed they will return property to actor Keanu Reeves, which he identified as his stolen watches. According to Akil Davis, Assistant Director of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office, “This case demonstrates the strong international collaboration between us, our Chilean counterparts, and the Los Angeles Police Department.”
In a statement, Davis explained that the FBI partners with the Los Angeles Police Department and other agencies to share information through groups like the Major Theft Task Force. These crimes impact both famous people and private citizens, and the FBI is dedicated to helping local law enforcement fight this growing problem and support the victims.
Keanu Reeves famously wears a Rolex watch throughout the John Wick films as he plays the vengeful main character. As a gesture of appreciation, he gave each of his stunt team members a Rolex engraved with “The John Wick Five” after filming John Wick 4. Reeves remains connected to the John Wick universe, with a supporting role planned in the Ballerina spin-off and a return anticipated for John Wick 5.
Keanu Reeves, famous for his kindness, wrote a heartfelt thank you note to the teams who helped recover his belongings. He expressed deep gratitude for their hard work, commitment, and seamless collaboration, sending them his warmest wishes.
