Marvel Studios is planning a huge, year-long marketing push for Avengers: Doomsday, starting with the first trailer being shown with the biggest film released during the holidays. Excitement for the movie has been building rapidly since Robert Downey Jr. was revealed as Doctor Doom at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2024. A brief initial hint came in March 2025 with the now-famous five-hour video of a chair, which revealed the film’s cast.
According to Collider, the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday will debut exclusively with screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash on December 19, 2025. However, Disney could still change its plans. If the report is accurate, fans will be waiting nearly a year – 364 days, to be exact – to see the trailer, as the movie isn’t scheduled to hit theaters until December 18, 2026.
Disney is Giving ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ the ‘Force Awakens’ Treatment

Marvel Comics
As a huge movie fan, I was surprised to see Disney drop a trailer a full year before a film’s release, but it’s happened before! Back in November 2014, they gave us the first glimpse of Star Wars: The Force Awakens thirteen months early. That trailer was massive – it became a global event and started a year of incredible marketing. The result? The movie was a record-breaking blockbuster, earning over $2 billion worldwide and becoming the highest-grossing film ever domestically with $936.6 million.
There’s buzz that the trailer for Avatar: Fire and Ash will include previews for Supergirl and a fresh look at Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. With a trailer now expected for Doomsday, it seems unlikely we’ll see a Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer beforehand, as Marvel probably doesn’t want to highlight two new Marvel Cinematic Universe films at the same time. Even though Brand New Day is scheduled to release before Doomsday, Marvel might want to start generating excitement for what’s shaping up to be their most costly movie yet.
