The First Official Look at DC’s Supergirl Suit is Here (And It’s Amazing)

With the successful launch of the new DC movie universe with Superman, Supergirl is the next hero getting her moment in the spotlight with the upcoming adaptation of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Fans have only gotten a quick glimpse of Supergirl so far in Superman, but DC Studios is starting to reveal more. They recently shared the first official look at her costume, which features a couple of exciting updates from her previous appearance, and it looks fantastic.

As a huge superhero movie fan, I was so excited to finally see the new Supergirl costume at CCXP! Omelete got some great footage of it, and I’ve been checking it out. It looks like they’ve made a couple of really noticeable changes from the suit we saw in Superman. First, the iconic ‘S’ shield is bigger, which I love. And second, the belt is now a solid gold color instead of being layered on top of the red – it’s a much cleaner look. You can see all the details in the post below, and trust me, it looks amazing!

This close-up gives us our best view of the cape, which was largely hidden by Supergirl’s coat in previous shots. Although the previous suit was already impressive, these subtle adjustments create a noticeably smoother and more streamlined look.

We’re hoping to get a first look at Milly Alcock as Supergirl in a trailer soon. A teaser could come out during the holidays, since the movie is scheduled for release in June 2026. However, DC might also choose to release the first footage at the start of the new year to build excitement for the film.

Directed by Craig Gillespie from a screenplay by Ana Nogueira, the upcoming Supergirl movie will fully introduce Emma Mackey Alcock as Supergirl and feature the first appearance of Jason Momoa as Lobo. While much of the cast remains a secret, Eve Ridley, Matthias Schoenaerts, Emily Beecham, and David Krumholtz have been confirmed to star as Ruthye, Krem, Alura, and Zor-El, respectively.

The upcoming movie will be inspired by the popular comic book story Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, created by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Matheus Lopes. The story follows Supergirl on a large-scale, revenge-driven journey across the universe. The film will differ from the source material by including the character Lobo, who wasn’t in the original comic. It’s currently unknown how this new Supergirl story will connect to the existing Superman films and the broader DC Universe being developed by James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Supergirl soars into theaters on June 26, 2026.
