Frame Interactive has unveiled The Free Shepherd, a single-player adventure game where you play as a spirited sheepdog. Your mission is to lead lost sheep to safety. The game, set to release on PlayStation 5 and PC (via Steam) in 2027, was shown off with a debut trailer. The trailer reveals a visually striking world that feels peaceful, but hints at an underlying threat.
Instead of playing as a human hero, The Free Shepherd lets you play as a dog! You’ll run through wide-open areas, gather and direct groups of sheep, and lead them to safety. While protecting the flock, you’ll also discover clues about a strange disaster that only you can stop.
Honestly, this game is all about feeling things. The landscapes are beautiful and peaceful, but there’s this constant undercurrent of dread, like something’s really off. A big part of it is exploring and taking care of these flocks of animals, but it’s not just about running around. You really have to pay attention to where you are, learn the lay of the land, and slowly figure out what happened just by moving from one group of animals in trouble to the next. It’s a really cool way to tell a story.
