Since James Bond first appeared in movies in 1962, the 007 theme songs have consistently been fantastic. Legendary artists like Shirley Bassey, Duran Duran, and Adele are just a few who’ve created memorable music for the films.
Ultimately, “Live and Let Die” was chosen as the favorite. Paul and Linda McCartney wrote the song, and their band, Wings, recorded it as the theme for the 1973 film of the same name. This film marked Roger Moore’s debut as the famous spy.
“Live and Let Die” won against another song recorded during Paul McCartney’s time with the band. Carly Simon’s “Nobody Does It Better” from the James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me finished second, receiving 32.8% of the votes compared to 67.2% for “Live and Let Die.”
Fan favorites like Shirley Bassey’s “Diamonds Are Forever,” Nancy Sinatra’s “You Only Live Twice,” Adele’s “Skyfall,” and Duran Duran’s “A View to a Kill” didn’t make it to the final round of the competition.

It was a bit of a shock, but Shirley Bassey’s ‘Goldfinger’ theme was eliminated in the previous round. It unfortunately faced off against ‘Live and Let Die,’ which ultimately won the competition, at that time.
Some viewers were upset that Goldfinger didn’t make it to the finale, with one person tweeting that it was “nonsense” and that anyone who didn’t vote for Goldfinger was simply mistaken.
The poll included 24 James Bond theme songs, but classics like Louis Armstrong’s “We Have All the Time in the World,” Tom Jones’s “Thunderball,” and Billie Eilish’s “No Time to Die” didn’t advance to the semi-finals.
