Just after news broke about a Baldur’s Gate TV show, another popular video game series is getting a movie adaptation, and a quickly rising actor will be the main star.
Isabela Merced, who starred in projects like The Last of Us and Superman, will play the main character in the new movie based on the popular horror video game, The House of the Dead, according to Deadline.
Paul WS Anderson, known for directing the Resident Evil films and the 1995 Mortal Kombat movie, will write and direct the project. He’s a popular choice among fans of video game adaptations.
Originally appearing in arcades in 1997, The House of the Dead quickly became popular for its fast-paced, on-rails shooting action and its groundbreaking portrayal of quick-moving zombies.
The story unfolds within AMS, a clandestine government agency, where agents fight against both terrifying monster outbreaks and hidden conspiracies.

In addition to acting, Merced will also be an executive producer on the new film. She’s quickly become a prominent actress, recently playing Hawkgirl in James Gunn’s Superman and starring in the popular sci-fi horror movie Alien: Romulus. Fans can also expect to see her back as a cast member in season 3 of The Last of Us.
The last movie based on the ‘House of the Dead’ game, released in 2003, wasn’t well-received by critics or audiences. Hopefully, this new adaptation will be better, with improved direction and a popular lead actor, and finally give this classic horror game series the film it deserves.

As someone who loves movies and TV, I’ve always been fascinated by the people behind the scenes who help bring those stories to life. I recently learned about Morgan Jeffery, who’s now the Digital Editor at TopMob – basically, he’s in charge of all the content they put out online. Before that, he was the TV Editor at Digital Spy, and he’s even appeared on shows like BBC Breakfast and BBC Radio 5 Live as a TV expert! It’s cool to see someone with such a passion for the medium getting recognized and sharing their insights.
