The Mandalorian & Grogu Movie Promo Confirms 3 Main Villains (But Leaves Out 4th)

The latest teaser for The Mandalorian and Grogu revealed the movie’s three primary villains, but it overlooked another dangerous group who should also be considered enemies. These villains – consisting of leftover Imperial forces, warlords, and gangsters – are spread throughout the galaxy and represent the threats Din Djarin and Grogu must overcome on behalf of the New Republic.

Okay, so the buzz around The Mandalorian and Grogu is getting interesting. It seems not everyone is thrilled with the idea of Din Djarin and Grogu working for the New Republic, essentially becoming bounty hunters targeting Imperial remnants. Apparently, this storyline is stirring up trouble and introducing some seriously dangerous new villains. It’s a bold move, and the fan reaction is definitely mixed, which honestly, makes things a lot more compelling.

A recent trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu revealed that Din Djarin and Grogu are being pursued by a variety of enemies – including gangsters, monsters, and warlords – who will serve as the primary villains in the upcoming Star Wars film.

I found it a little odd that the trailer didn’t mention “Bounty Hunters.” Especially since Embo, a character we first met in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, is definitely going to be one of the bad guys in this movie!

The Mandalorian and Grogu is set to premiere in theaters on May 22.

The Mandalorian & Grogu Confirms 3 Main Villains In New Promo

Gangsters

The upcoming 2026 Star Wars film will feature the Hutt Twins as enemies of Din Djarin and Grogu, and trailer footage suggests they are formidable opponents. They seem to have kidnapped Grogu and stolen Din Djarin’s helmet, likely to intimidate him and potentially derail his work with the New Republic.

Okay, so Rotta the Hutt is hanging out with those shady Hutt Twins, but I’m getting a strong feeling he’s going to end up helping Din Djarin and Grogu. The show is definitely setting him up as Mando’s new ally, which means he’ll likely be switching sides and helping them get out of whatever trouble the twins are causing. It’s a classic good-Hutt-turns-good storyline, and I’m here for it!

Warlords

The Shadow Council is now established as a primary antagonist in The Mandalorian and Grogu. They appear to be secretly orchestrating events to keep the Empire’s power alive, even while it’s in hiding.

This group is made up of the remaining forces of the old Empire, spread throughout the galaxy. Because of this, they are primary targets for both Din Djarin and Grogu, and the New Republic as a whole.

The Shadow Council’s appearance in the 2026 Star Wars film might suggest we’ll learn more about Project Necromancer – the initiative to resurrect Emperor Palpatine, which ultimately succeeded in The Rise of Skywalker.

Monsters

The Star Wars universe features many dangerous creatures, and a few of them could cause problems for Din Djarin and Grogu. One example is a Dragonsnake, which is shown attacking Din Djarin when he’s without his helmet, inside a pit.

The new season of The Mandalorian and Grogu will showcase 17 different species from the Star Wars universe. Some of these species will oppose Din Djarin and Grogu, attempting to stop their efforts against the remaining Imperial forces. For example, a Mantellian Savrip causes destruction in city streets, and Embo’s Anooba pet is a fearsome hunter known for its aggressive behavior.

The Mandalorian & Grogu Promo Left Out ‘Bounty Hunters’ – But They’re Already Confirmed

I’m so excited for the new season! Even though the initial promotional materials showed a lot of bounty hunters, it’s now confirmed that Embo will be a major villain, actively hunting Din Djarin and Grogu. I can’t wait to see how that plays out!

It’s likely Embo was paid by either the Shadow Council or the Hutt Twins to interfere with Din Djarin and Grogu’s work with the New Republic. He might even be responsible for taking Grogu, and is now making Din do whatever these criminals want.

There’s also speculation that The Mandalorian and Grogu might be concealing other bounty hunters who could challenge Din Djarin in the show. This idea fits well, considering how difficult Mando is to catch or defeat.
