The first trailer for the new *Mandalorian and Grogu* movie is out, giving fans a great look at what’s coming. This film is a big deal for Star Wars, as it’s the first time a Star Wars movie has been in theaters since 2019. It also aims to show that *The Mandalorian* can succeed as a movie series, not just a TV show. The trailer features exciting scenes like an AT-AT being destroyed, Stormtroopers fighting, and lots of the adorable Grogu – affectionately known as “Baby Yoda.”
The trailer for *The Mandalorian and Grogu* is already generating buzz thanks to several exciting moments. Fans will be happy to see Din Djarin back in the Razor Crest, which replaces the Naboo Starfighter he’d been using in *The Book of Boba Fett* and Season 3 of *The Mandalorian*. A U-Wing also makes an appearance. The trailer introduces Rotta the Hutt, Jabba’s son (voiced by Jeremy Allen White from *The Bear*), and hints at the New Republic storyline featuring Sigourney Weaver as Colonel Ward and the return of Adelphi Base. Beyond these highlights, the trailer is packed with smaller details, interesting alien creatures, and hidden references for eagle-eyed viewers.
7) Star Wars’ Galactic Starcruiser Is Referenced

Disney’s Galactic Starcruiser was a unique and elaborate hotel experience at Walt Disney World designed to fully immerse Star Wars fans in a galactic adventure, making them feel like they were on a space cruise. Though it only ran from March 2022 to September 2023, it has become part of official Star Wars lore. A recent trailer included a glimpse of an advertisement for the Halcyon (the name of the hotel) written in the Star Wars language, Aurebesh, which translates to “Halcyon: See the Galaxy.”
6) The Iktotchi Return

The new trailer for *The Mandalorian and Grogu* shows a lively bar scene with plenty of action, and it features a familiar alien species. Since the original *Star Wars* in 1977, cantina scenes have always been a great way to showcase a wide variety of alien creatures, and this trailer continues that tradition with the return of the Iktotchi. Fans may recognize this species as the home of Saesee Tiin, a Jedi Master who first appeared in *Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace*.
5) Star Wars Rebels’ Zeb Comes To The Movies

Zeb Orrelios, a character first seen in *Star Wars Rebels*, has transitioned to live-action appearances in *The Mandalorian*, and will now appear in the upcoming movie, *The Mandalorian and Grogu*, with what seems like a bigger part. He makes a very brief appearance in the movie’s trailer, shown fighting a Stormtrooper, which hints he’ll be working with Din Djarin and Grogu on their adventure. Importantly, he’s still using his signature bo-rifle, a weapon associated with his Lasan heritage.
4) An Amani – Is It Return Of The Jedi’s Bounty Hunter?

In one of the trailer’s water scenes, a creature with scales briefly appears, possibly searching for Din Djarin (Mando) and Grogu because bounties may still be active for them. This creature is an Amani, a species we’ve seen before in Return of the Jedi as one of the bounty hunters at Jabba the Hutt’s palace. Since the Hutt family is still around during the events of The Mandalorian, it’s even possible this is the same Amani character appearing after more than 40 years.
3) The Hutt Cartel Insignia

The Hutts are featured in the new film, most obviously through the gladiator Rotta. However, their influence goes beyond that – their symbol appears on a door in the trailer, suggesting a wider presence. As established in *The Book of Boba Fett*, the Hutts still hold considerable power in the Outer Rim, and with several family members appearing on the movie poster, they’re expected to have a significant role beyond just Rotta’s battles.
2) Din Djarin’s Pulse Rifle Is Back

Din Djarin has reclaimed a favorite weapon in *The Mandalorian*, just like he did with the Razor Crest. His pulse rifle, previously destroyed by the Empire, is back in his possession – we see him using it against droids. This return to familiar equipment, along with the rebuilt ship, might signal a shift towards a simpler, more classic style for the series, especially after the mixed reception to Season 3.
1) A Creature From Dejarik

After nearly 50 years, a creature originally glimpsed on the Millennium Falcon in the first *Star Wars* movie (*A New Hope*) has appeared in the trailer for *The Mandalorian and Grogu*. This creature, a Mantellian Savrip from the planet Ord Mantell, will be one of the fighters in the arena.
The Mandalorian and Grogu will be released on May 22nd, 2026.
