Things are looking up for The Mandalorian and Grogu thanks to a new trailer starring Pedro Pascal. Fans were initially worried about how Lucasfilm was promoting the return of Star Wars to cinemas, with a disappointing first teaser and a Super Bowl ad that felt off-brand. But the latest trailer is a big improvement, suggesting a really exciting and enjoyable adventure that’s perfect for a theatrical release.

The Mandalorian & Grogu Having An Unmasked Pedro Pascal Is Great News
While Pascal is the face most people associate with the Mandalorian, he isn’t the only actor in the suit. Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder frequently perform as the character, and their skill is a major reason Din Djarin is so popular. Pascal’s involvement is also key, though, because it allows the character to remove his helmet and show the actor behind the mask – letting audiences connect with Din Djarin as a person, not just as Mando.
The first two seasons of The Mandalorian struck a good balance, but Season 3 faced issues due to Pedro Pascal’s busy schedule. He wasn’t physically on set for filming, which impacted Din Djarin’s story arc. Earlier seasons hinted that Din would start to question and potentially reject the strict rules of the Children of the Watch, but this development felt less impactful as a result.
The show quickly undid that change at the start of Season 3, with Din Djarin seeking forgiveness from the Armorer. Because Pedro Pascal wasn’t available, we still didn’t see his face, and he reaffirmed his commitment to the Mandalorian rules. This was one of several problems with the season, so it’s satisfying to finally see him remove his helmet in the movie. Pascal is a talented actor, and letting Din show more emotion, particularly with Grogu, will likely make the story more powerful.
We got a quick glimpse of Pascal wearing the suit (without the helmet) back in April 2025 at Star Wars Celebration Japan, so his appearance isn’t a total surprise. However, the new trailer shows him unmasked in several scenes, hinting that he’ll have a more significant role than initially expected.
Will The Mandalorian & Grogu Revisit Din Djarin’s Way Of The Mandalore Arc?
With Pascal confirmed to be in The Mandalorian and Grogu, fans are now wondering how this will affect Din Djarin’s story. Will the movie explore whether he’ll continue to stray from the Mandalorian code?
The video doesn’t clearly show him choosing to remove his mask. It looks like the Hutts force him to take it off, at least at first. However, he might decide later in the movie to keep his face visible, or remove the helmet again on his own.
If the story revisits this theme, Grogu is definitely the main reason. The trailer clearly shows how strong their connection is and how much Din cares for him. Din even recognizes that Grogu will outlive him by centuries. If the story explores their father-son relationship further, it would make sense for Din to remove his helmet in front of Grogu for a powerful emotional moment, similar to what happened in Season 2 of The Mandalorian.
The movie might not have enough time to fully explain the mysteries surrounding the Way, no matter where that leads. It seems like the best approach would be to focus on the bond between Din and Grogu, and the trailer suggests that’s exactly what’s happening.
