Marvel movies often include short scenes after the credits, hinting at future storylines. Sometimes, these teases don’t lead anywhere, especially as the studio changes its plans. This has happened with films like *Eternals*, *Shang-Chi*, *Spider-Man: Homecoming*, and *Thor: Love & Thunder*. But there’s good news for fans of *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* – the upcoming movie will finally connect to one of these previously unresolved post-credit hints.
Let’s break down the post-credit scene in *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* and explore how it sets up future Marvel Cinematic Universe projects.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Paying Off Homecoming Post-Credit Scene

In *Spider-Man: Homecoming*, the main villain, The Vulture, was defeated by Spider-Man and sent to prison. However, before his capture, The Vulture learned Spider-Man’s secret identity. This was dangerous, as it gave him leverage and made him a target for enemies of Spider-Man seeking revenge. The post-credit scene showed one such enemy approaching him in prison.
The man, identified by a scorpion tattoo on his neck as Mac Gargon, approached Vulture in prison. He mentioned it was curious they were both incarcerated and hinted he’d heard Vulture knew Spider-Man’s secret identity. Vulture truthfully replied that he didn’t, and even if he did, Spider-Man would be dead. Though brief, the encounter showed Scorpion clearly harbors resentment towards Spider-Man, a feeling that has never been addressed.
I’m so excited about the new *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* movie! It looks like they’re finally doing a big gang war storyline, which is awesome because it’s a classic part of the comics. And it’s not just talk – Scorpion is confirmed to be back, and Michael Mando is reprising his role, connecting this movie to *Homecoming*! He’s even hinted that we might see Venom and a whole team of supervillains. Honestly, the potential for this movie is incredible, and I can’t wait to see where they take it.
The MCU Can Bring Back Other Post-Credit Teases

This could also mean we’ll see more payoff from those little hints at the end of Marvel movies. We’ve already seen it take a long time – eight years for Scorpion, and even seventeen years for The Leader from *The Incredible Hulk* – for these teases to finally become something bigger. It seems Marvel isn’t in any rush to follow up on them, and there’s no set timeline for when they’ll circle back.
The lack of follow-through is particularly noticeable in *The Eternals*. The film concluded with three different plot threads hanging, and none have been resolved. We saw Dane Whitman discover the Black Knight’s sword, but a voiceover from Blade was all we got – and his movie hasn’t come out yet. Sersi was taken by the Celestials to decide Earth’s fate, but that storyline hasn’t continued. And while Eros, Thanos’s brother, appeared, we haven’t seen him since.
Both *Thor: Love & Thunder* and *Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness* ended with scenes setting up future storylines – a new Guardians team, Star-Lord’s return to Earth, Hercules seeking revenge on Thor, and Clea taking Doctor Strange to a new battle. *Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings* also had a post-credit scene featuring Shang-Chi, Wong, and Captain Marvel. Unfortunately, none of these setups have been explored further, likely because Marvel paused production on several projects when movie ticket sales started to fall.
As a big Marvel fan, I’ve noticed they’re really good about eventually tying up loose ends. Remember how *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* and *Captain America: Brave New World* eventually brought things full circle? It seems like they don’t forget those little plot threads they introduce. Sometimes it takes a while, and those post-credit scenes aren’t always immediately explained, but if you stick with the MCU, it feels like they usually pay off in the end for those of us who are willing to wait.
