Even though 2026 is just starting, several manga series on Shonen Jump are ending. Last year saw many cancellations due to poor performance and low readership. Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+, launched in 2014, is a digital platform for original manga that aims to appeal to a wider audience than traditional shonen manga. It’s become a major player in the industry, boosted by popular titles like Fire Punch, Chainsaw Man, Hell’s Paradise, Spy × Family, Kaiju No. 8, and Dandadan. But with so many options available, it’s hard for new series to stand out, leading Shonen Jump+ to cancel several each month.
The platform has decided to end the horror series Ryota Killed His Brother by Ayumi Natori. This was the creator’s first serialized manga, and while it initially gained some popularity after launching in November 2024, readership declined. Known for its dark themes, the series includes a trigger warning on the Manga Plus app. According to @WSJ_manga on X, a trusted source for Shonen Jump news, the final chapter will be released on January 23rd, 2026 (JST). The manga ran bi-weekly and has published 29 chapters, with one final chapter remaining.
What Is The Plot of Ryota Killed His Brother?

I’m really drawn to this story about Ryota. He’s basically been raising his little brother, Chika, from day one. His mom passed away during childbirth, and his dad’s always working, so it’s all fallen to him. It’s just… a lot for a kid, honestly. He’s exhausted, can’t sleep, and never gets a moment to himself. He’s overwhelmed with everything he has to do, and even though he knows it’s wrong, he sometimes finds himself resenting Chika, wondering what his life would be like if things were different. It’s a really tough situation, and I’m invested in seeing how he copes.
Despite everything, Ryota always softens when Chika cries and pleads with him, and he overlooks the strange bite marks Chika leaves on his body – marks that make people mistakenly believe Ryota is being abused. Ryota’s friend is increasingly concerned and discovers that Chika is strangely immortal. Seeing how close Ryota is to breaking, his friend decides to investigate what’s really going on. But the truth behind Chika’s behavior is far more disturbing than anyone could have imagined.
