The most expensive film ever….

Ballooning budgets……

It’s common for movie budgets to skyrocket – these days, $100 million is considered the bare minimum for a big blockbuster, and many high-budget films have failed despite their costs. However, a new movie has just broken the record for the most expensive film ever created.

Were you expecting this to be the most expensive film ever?

Jurassic World Dominion, released in 2022, is the sixth film in the Jurassic Park franchise and recently became known as the most expensive movie ever made. While The Force Awakens previously held that title with a budget of £638.9 million (and earned over $2 billion), Dominion cost an estimated $658.8 million to produce, according to Forbes. This higher cost wasn’t due to lavish spending, but rather the unique challenges of filming during the COVID-19 pandemic. Production faced constant delays and restrictions, leading to increased expenses for things like extended soundstage rentals, prolonged equipment leases, and additional fees for cast and crew who had to stay at the costly Langley Hotel for five months (around $600 per night).

Although the movie had a high production cost, tax rebates of $127.8 million from the UK government brought the net budget down to $531 million. The film then earned over $1 billion in theaters, and when home entertainment and merchandise sales were included, it ultimately proved quite profitable.

However, the seventh film, Jurassic World Rebirth, had a much smaller budget. Despite this, it still earned a significant $869 million at the box office.
