Nacon and ACE Team have announced that their cooperative survival horror game, The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu, will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC (via Steam) on July 15th.
Here is an overview of the game, via Nacon:
In The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu, players work together as explorers in the age of the conquistadors, trying to withstand terrifying events and maintain their sanity.
Okay, so here’s the deal. I’m on my galleon with my crew, and El Capitán just handed us a pretty hefty contract. Basically, we need to get rich, find this missing person, and track down an old fort. Oh, and try not to die in the process. As soon as we hit the beach, though, I got this really bad feeling. This jungle is supposed to be full of treasure and secrets, but it also feels like something nasty is lurking, and they really don’t want us here.
In The Mound: Omen of Cthulhu, each game starts with a team of up to four explorers taking on a contract. Their goal is to find treasure and map out new parts of the island, but they need to be fast! The longer they stay, the more monsters appear, and the tougher they become. Players have limited space for items, and starting weapons are better suited for defense and evasion than direct combat.
Okay, so another big problem we face as players is losing our minds. Seriously, dealing with these crazy cosmic horrors messes with you. You start seeing things – a friend might look like a monster, or a safe field suddenly seems like a bottomless pit. Even the bushes start looking creepy, and sometimes it just rains blood out of nowhere! If we somehow make it back alive, El Capitán will be happy, but trust me, he’ll always have another dangerous job lined up for us.
Taking inspiration from H.P. Lovecraft’s story, The Mound, Omen of Cthulhu lets 2-4 players team up and explore a mysterious, undiscovered continent. Their goal? To find a legendary city rumored to hold incredible treasures.
