Spielberg is back!
Although Steven Spielberg recently directed two well-received films, West Side Story and The Fablemans, neither performed well in theaters, earning $76 million and $45 million respectively. Now, he’s working on a new film expected to be a big hit, but details about the plot remain a secret. What exactly is Spielberg’s upcoming summer blockbuster about?
The mystery of Spielberg’s summer 2026 blockbuster…
Currently, the movie doesn’t even have a confirmed title, though some sources suggest it might be called ‘The Dish,’ according to IMDB. However, recent promotional activity has included mysterious electronic billboards appearing with just a few words: ‘All will be disclosed. Spielberg 6/12/26.’ Given the common practice in the US of switching month and day, this likely means the film will be released on June 12th, not December 6th. The posters also feature an upside-down eye and eyebrow above what appears to be a pale face, surrounded by a dark shape—possibly an alien, a spaceship, or something else entirely. The overall effect of the poster is quite unsettling.
Who stars?
The film stars Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, and Wyatt Russell. It’s described as a story focusing on two main characters and involving a UFO.
What’s could it be about?
Everyone’s been buzzing about what this new movie is actually about – some are even wondering if it’s a secret follow-up to Spielberg’s Close Encounters of the Third Kind! What’s really exciting for me is that David Koepp wrote it, and he’s a Spielberg regular – he penned Jurassic Park and the more recent Indiana Jones films, so you know it’s in good hands. I’m expecting something really special.
The truth is out there……
The phrase ‘All will be disclosed’ seems to hint at the complete release of the Epstein files, though that’s likely just speculation. Regardless, we’ll find out soon what Steven Spielberg is planning for his big summer movie in 2026.
