Lucasfilm is famous for blockbusters like Star Wars and Indiana Jones, but they’ve also made other films, including Willow, Labyrinth, Howard the Duck, and Red Tails. They once planned a movie based on the fantasy novel Children of Blood and Bone, but the project was put on hold when new Star Wars films became the focus, and eventually, Disney let the rights lapse. While Lucasfilm now seems to be concentrating on projects related to its well-known franchises, Children of Blood and Bone is back on track – Paramount Pictures has acquired the rights and plans to release the film in January 2027.
It’s been over a year since the cast for the movie Children of Blood and Bone was first revealed, and now there’s a new exciting development! The film’s official X account just shared a quick video showing off the movie’s logo. You can watch it below.

What the Children of Blood and Bone Logo Reveal Could Mean
The logo reveal isn’t particularly thrilling on its own, but what it suggests is interesting. The timing is notable because CinemaCon, a major event where studios preview upcoming movies for theater owners, is happening from April 12th to 16th. Paramount is participating and has a presentation scheduled for April 16th. Currently, the CinemaCon website only states that the presentation will highlight the studio’s future projects, without mentioning any specific films.
It’s not certain if Children of Blood and Bone will be a major focus at CinemaCon, but it’s likely Paramount will include something about it in their presentation. The recent logo reveal seems like a way to prepare audiences for a bigger reveal, possibly a trailer that will first appear at CinemaCon and then online. Paramount is trying to build excitement for the film before the event by sharing the logo and increasing awareness. Since filming wrapped up in June 2025 after starting in February, there’s enough material available to create a short teaser or highlight reel.
Paramount would be smart to preview Children of Blood and Bone at CinemaCon. The film has a strong story and could become a major fantasy series. It’s set in the magical kingdom of Orïsha and follows Zélie Adebola as she tries to save her land from King Saran, who has found a way to eliminate magic. Based on a novel by Tomi Adeyemi inspired by Nigerian mythology, the movie promises beautiful imagery, exciting action, and engaging characters. CinemaCon is all about generating buzz for potential blockbuster films and giving theater owners confidence in upcoming releases, making a fantasy film like this a perfect fit for a preview.
As a huge movie fan, I’m really hoping the first trailer for Children of Blood and Bone lands well. Paramount is starting fresh with new leadership, and they could really benefit from a solid franchise to build on for the next few years. What’s exciting is that this is the first book in a series, meaning there’s plenty more story to tell if the movie does well. Now, mid-January isn’t usually the best time to release a big blockbuster, but maybe that will actually help this film. There isn’t much competition around that time, so it could really get noticed and become a hit, which I’m crossing my fingers for!
