Microsoft is testing a complete store within the Android Xbox app. Users will be able to buy games, downloadable content, and create wishlists.
The update is currently being tested, but should be available on both iOS and Android soon. Android users can try it out right now through the Xbox beta app, while iOS users will need to wait a bit longer.
The new Store section lets you easily find games, add-ons, and bundles, just like on your Xbox. You can refine your search with filters like Xbox Play Anywhere. Plus, we’re adding wishlists that will stay up-to-date across all your devices – whether you create them in the app, online, or on your Xbox.

Before now, the Xbox app didn’t have a dedicated store, and its search function often mixed up games, users, and other items. This made finding specific content difficult, especially on phones. While the app was always good for starting downloads on your console, it never truly functioned as a complete storefront.
The app frequently sent you to a website when you tried to make a purchase. Plus, you couldn’t create a wishlist on the mobile app – you had to use the console or website for that.
A step in the right direction
This update brings the Xbox app closer to the full experience you get on the web and console. Now you can easily browse games, buy extra content, and manage your wishlist all within the app.
Microsoft is currently testing some new features, and hasn’t announced when they’ll be available to all users. Right now, you can only find them in the beta version of the Xbox app for Android. This is a step towards Microsoft’s plan to create a full Xbox mobile store, which they weren’t able to launch last year, and brings the app closer to achieving that goal.
Just so everyone knows, this update isn’t about bringing mobile games directly to the Xbox app. I was hoping for that, but it looks like this one’s focused on improving things for console and PC gamers instead – no standalone mobile titles this time around.
