During IGN Fan Fest, Obsidian Entertainment showed off some first gameplay footage of *The Outer Worlds 2*. While Microsoft has been promoting the game with funny trailers and collectible toys, the gameplay reveal offered brief glimpses of action and new weapons, all accompanied by a classic, *Falloutinspired soundtrack.
The game features several unique weapons, including a device that dissolves bodies with corrosive spray and a wrist-mounted firework launcher. Players can also use a large, two-handed weapon resembling a pizza cutter, or a massive hammer. Screenshots reveal Valerie, one of the six new characters you can team up with, providing cover fire.
On top of everything else, the trailer also shows quick glimpses of how the game will look when played from a third-person perspective. It’s not a major focus, but the viewpoint seems well-implemented, which is surprising since Obsidian Entertainment hadn’t originally intended to include this feature.
The Outer Worlds 2 comes out on October 29th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, and will be included with Game Pass. Players on Xbox and PC can download the game now to prepare for the launch.
