More than 20 years after it ended, the original voice actors from the beloved Cartoon Network show The Powerpuff Girls recently got back together, sharing a sweet video with their fans. The Powerpuff Girls remains a highly-regarded and influential animated series, almost three decades after its debut. It’s easy to see why – the show was packed with fun superhero adventures and lighthearted comedy for the whole family. Ultimately, it was a story about three sisters and their father.
At its heart, The Powerpuff Girls was a funny show about a professor trying to build a family. The original voice actors – Cathy Cavadini (Blossom), Tara Strong (Bubbles), E.G. Daily (Buttercup), and Tom Kane (Professor Utonium) – were the core of the series’ exciting adventures. Recently, the cast reunited and shared a sweet video with fans on Instagram, which you can see below!
The Powerpuff Girls Casts Reunite After 21 Years
It was really special seeing the voice cast of The Powerpuff Girls back together, especially knowing that Tom Kane retired from voice acting back in 2020 after suffering a stroke. It’s clear they all still care for each other, even after all these years. That connection really shines through and reminds you why the show was so popular – the heart of the family dynamic felt real both in the show and among the actors themselves. Luckily, we can still enjoy The Powerpuff Girls whenever we want!
For a while, it was hard to find The Powerpuff Girls streaming online, just like many other beloved Cartoon Network shows. Now, though, all the original episodes, specials, and more are available to watch for free on Tubi, alongside other classic shows from that same time period. It’s a great opportunity to rewatch your favorite moments!
The Powerpuff Girls Revival Now in the Works With Cartoon Network
Although a recent reboot of The Powerpuff Girls didn’t succeed, and a live-action show never materialized, Cartoon Network is still interested in the franchise. Four years ago, they announced a new animated revival with the original creator, Craig McCracken, involved. However, there hasn’t been much news about the project since, so it’s unclear how development is progressing.
Craig McCracken is working on revivals of both The Powerpuff Girls and Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, leaving fans eager to see what he does next. It’s unclear whether the original voice actors will reprise their roles, or if they’ll be recast like in the 2016 Powerpuff Girls reboot. We’ll have to wait for more announcements to find out how these new versions will unfold.
