Rob Reiner, the director of The Princess Bride, and his wife, film producer Michele Singer Reiner, have both died. He was 78 years old, and she was 68.
Around 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, firefighters were called to the home of a filmmaker and discovered a man and a woman had died inside.
NBC News confirmed that Robert Reiner and his wife were the two people found dead at the scene, and both had suffered stab wounds.
Because the deaths are being investigated as a possible homicide, LAPD Deputy Police Chief Alan Hamilton explained that detectives first needed to obtain a search warrant for the property. He stated that as soon as the legal requirements for the warrant were met, the investigation could proceed.
