Filming for Season 3 of The Rings of Power is complete, giving us a likely timeframe for when the new episodes will be available to stream. This sets the stage for a fantastic year for fans of fantasy television. Season 2, which received mostly positive reviews and was considered an improvement over Season 1, has built a lot of anticipation for the show’s return. While the events at Eregion are over, a larger conflict for Middle-earth is coming.
Season 3 of The Rings of Power will pick up after the dramatic events of Season 2 with a jump forward in time, then revisit known storylines with some new characters. Jamie Campbell Bower, known for his role in Stranger Things, has expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming season in a video posted on X, also confirming that filming has finished. Based on how long post-production took for previous seasons, the show is likely to return to Amazon Prime Video in late 2026.
‘The Rings of Power’ Joins Two ‘Game of Thrones’ Spinoffs For a Massive Fantasy Year in 2026

Epic fantasy fans have a lot to look forward to! With production on The Rings of Power finishing up, 2026 is shaping up to be a fantastic year for the genre. Kicking things off, the new Game of Thrones spinoff, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, will arrive on streaming services in January 2025. Then, in Summer 2026, we can expect the third season of House of the Dragon, continuing the pattern established by both it and The Rings of Power.
Although filming for The Rings of Power finished soon after House of the Dragon, it usually takes longer to finish the visual effects for The Rings of Power because it uses a lot of CGI. Because of this, the third season of The Rings of Power likely won’t be released until the fall, giving fantasy fans new shows to watch throughout the year. HBO’s Harry Potter series was initially planned for 2026, but the release date has been moved to 2027.
Fans of fantasy and sci-fi have a lot to anticipate in 2026, with upcoming TV shows based on popular titles like Blade Runner 2099, Neuromancer, One Piece, and Avatar: The Last Airbender, among others.
