Nikki Glaser‘s relationship with Chris Convy isn’t wide open.
It is ajar, though, and that’s how she likes it.
As someone who’s been navigating the dating world, including an on-again, off-again relationship with Convy since 2013, I’ve realized something important: I don’t expect my partner to be monogamous. It’s just not a requirement for me, and I’m open to different relationship styles.
On the April 8th episode of Call Her Daddy, Glaser explained that she’s okay with her boyfriend having casual encounters, but she wouldn’t do the same herself. She clarified it’s not a mutual expectation – she doesn’t have a desire to hook up with others while in a relationship, but doesn’t mind if her partner does.
Glaser has always been open about her personal life, and she especially loves to share the funny, more chaotic moments.
In an October 2022 interview on The Graham Bensinger Show, Glaser admitted she can be difficult to date, explaining that her candid and often explicit humor isn’t always easy to introduce to family. Fortunately, she added, her boyfriend doesn’t mind.

He’s also perfectly comfortable with being included in his girlfriend’s performances. For example, during the 2024 roast of Tom Brady, she joked that even though she loved her boyfriend—who was in the audience—she’d be willing to do anything, even something extreme, for a chance to be with Tom Brady.
Following the dinner, she shared on The Rich Eisen Show that Convy advised her, “You’re free to talk about anything, as long as it’s humorous.”
She said he’s genuinely supportive of her career, wanting her to thrive both professionally and as an individual. She also added, with a touch of humor, that if something seems outlandish, you can always claim it was just for comedic effect.
And these days she’s all about the boyfriend shout-out.

The comedian, who is 5-foot-9, revealed she’s dating someone shorter than her during her first time hosting Saturday Night Live in November. She joked that his good looks are what attracted her, saying she wouldn’t have been able to date someone that attractive if they were taller.
“It is like getting a hot guy in discount,” she quipped. “He’s marked down.”
Let me tell you how they actually met – it wasn’t some random encounter! I first met him back in 2013 while I was producing my show, Nikki & Sara Live, on MTV with my co-host, Sara Schaefer. He was part of the team then, and it was definitely a work connection that blossomed into something more!
I remember thinking he was really cute when I first saw him, but honestly, he just seemed like he was having way too much fun. I’d recently stopped drinking, and when I saw him dancing at a party, my first thought was that he must be drunk – I just couldn’t imagine anyone naturally being that energetic! Because of that, I immediately decided he wasn’t for me.
Consider her mind blown when she found out Convy didn’t drink and wasjust that fun.
I fell in love with him secretly, constantly wishing he felt the same way. It reminded me of Jim and Pam from ‘The Office’ – I was like Jim, hopelessly in love, but he didn’t know. He was also my first serious boyfriend.

Nikki and Convy had an on-again, off-again relationship, but filming her 2022 TopMob special, Welcome Home Nikki Glaser?, made her realize how much she appreciated him. Watching the show back, she admitted it showed her a side of herself she hadn’t seen before, saying, “I saw a side of myself that was like, ‘Ooh, she’s a lot.’”
Though, at the time, they had just broken up again.
“I have a fear of commitment,” she admitted. “I’m the one.”
Despite everything, I think he really is the one for me. It feels good to say that, although honestly, something terrible could have happened to him – he might even be dead in Iceland right now.
Convy was doing great, but people were surprised when Glaser admitted she was okay with her boyfriend considering the possibility of dating other women.
She explained it like this: it’s similar to lending a friend a sweater – you’re happy for them to borrow it for a short time, but you expect it back in the same condition. She clarified she wouldn’t personally do this with her friends, but the idea is, enjoy it temporarily and then return it.

She was okay with him seeing other people as long as it wasn’t a committed relationship. She stated, “If he truly wanted to be with someone else, he should be with them, not with her.”
Okay, seriously, she said it herself on Call Her Daddy and it blew my mind! Basically, if a guy she was with even tried to bond with her over stuff like watching The Wire – The Wire! – or doing crossword puzzles, or even sending memes… she’d be totally horrified! She said she’d be thinking, ‘What the heck?! That’s our thing!’ Like, it’s a dealbreaker if he tries to copy what we do. It’s honestly so cute and possessive, I’m obsessed!

Okay, so after seeing Taylor get engaged to Travis, it’s like… a switch flipped for her! She’s actually thinking about what that might look like for her and whoever she’s with. I mean, it’s HUGE! She’s considering the possibility of getting engaged herself, and honestly, I’m losing it! It’s everything I’ve ever dreamed of for her!
Glaser shared that it was the first time she truly believed she could succeed, telling Jenna Bush Hager during a September appearance on Today With Jenna & Friends. She explained this feeling stemmed from wanting to emulate Bush Hager’s achievements.
She shared that she has a Travis in her life who is incredibly supportive. He’s also her creative partner and always has her back.
And she feels all that breaking up was ultimately for the best.
Glaser suggests that couples who break up often find their way back to each other, and that this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. She believes taking time apart – even dating others – can help you appreciate what you had all along. It’s common to think someone new will be better, but often you realize your original partner is the best fit after all.
And Convy wouldn’t take her declarations of love any other way.

The Queer Eye star and their husband Mark Peacock goes through “seasons” of non-monogamy.
Jonathan explained on The Mitch Churi Chat Show that he prefers to explore relationships for a specific period of time. He acknowledged that some people worry open relationships can be difficult to end once started, but he and his partner have successfully navigated that challenge.
However, an open communication about boundaries is paramount to making it work.
The hairstylist explained that they’ve been able to adjust their schedule to fit what’s happening in their lives, and that arrangement is working well for them.
What is off the table, though?
JVN Hair founder admitted that polyamory isn’t for them. They simply don’t have the energy or time to manage the emotional needs of more than one partner; it would be too demanding.

RuPaul and his husband, Georges LeBar, have an open relationship that works for them because they believe traditional monogamy isn’t realistic, especially for men. RuPaul explained to The New Yorker in 2024 that it simply made sense for their connection. They didn’t actively decide on an open relationship; it just evolved naturally. Having met in 1994 and married years later, RuPaul told Vanity Fair in 2019 that he doesn’t want to limit the person he loves most. He believes attempting to force monogamy is a false expectation and wouldn’t want to restrain his best friend. Ultimately, their open arrangement doesn’t diminish their love for each other. RuPaul encourages anyone feeling a strong attraction to pursue it, confident in the deep love and devotion he shares with Georges.

Kody Brown famously said that love should grow, not be split. For many years, he lived this belief by being married to four wives – Meri Brown, Janelle Brown, Christine Brown, and Robyn Brown – and their lives were chronicled on the reality show Sister Wives.
In the show’s first episode back in 2010, Kody, a father of 18 children, explained that he simply fell in love multiple times.
However, Kody has since changed his views on polygamy. Christine and Kody separated in November 2021, followed by Janelle and Kody in December 2022. In January 2023, Meri also announced the end of their marriage. Now, Robyn is Kody’s only wife.
Kody Brown, speaking to People magazine in December 2023, said he doesn’t necessarily support plural marriage, but has personal experience with its challenges. He emphasized the importance of careful consideration and wisdom for anyone entering into such a relationship. He noted that even long-established plural marriages can fail.
Several of Kody’s former wives have moved on. Christine has embraced monogamy, marrying David Woolley in 2023 and stating she wouldn’t return to polygamy. Janelle, however, has said she’d be open to it again. As for his current wife, Robyn, she indicated in 2024 she would consider plural marriage again only if she could be certain it would be a positive and successful experience.

I was really fascinated by a conversation Willow Smith brought up on Red Table Talk. She was explaining her thoughts on polyamory, and it really resonated with me. She basically said that the best relationship style is one you create for yourself, instead of just automatically falling into what’s expected – monogamy. It’s about finding what truly works for you as an individual. She made a really good point about why so many marriages end – infidelity – and asked a thought-provoking question: if one partner has a higher sex drive than the other, should the first partner suppress their needs? It’s not about having more sex, either! Willow actually shared that she’s the only polyamorous person in her friend group, and surprisingly, she has the least amount of sex! It just proves it’s not about quantity, but about honest communication and building a relationship that fits everyone involved.

Shailene Woodley believes that when it comes to relationships, the only opinions that truly matter are those of the people involved. She’s experienced both open and traditional monogamous relationships and feels that in today’s world, couples should create their own rules – whether it’s between two or more people. However, she emphasizes that any relationship style requires honesty, communication, and trust, and ultimately, what people choose to do is a private matter. She shared these thoughts with The New York Times in 2020.

Ne-Yo doesn’t seem bothered by criticism of his relationships. He shared on Instagram in February that he doesn’t care about disapproval of his polyamorous lifestyle, even posting, “Fun fact: I don’t care.” This came after he publicly introduced his four girlfriends in March, following nearly seven years of marriage to Crystal Renay, which ended in divorce in 2023.
Okay, so Ne-Yo said it himself on the radio! It actually works for him! He was talking about how everyone involved is honest, consensual, and just… truthful. He even admitted he wishes he’d been this open from the start – thinks it could have saved him a lot of drama! But he’s super clear – this isn’t a ‘everyone should do this!’ thing. It’s what he needs, what makes him happy. He’s literally just sharing what’s working for him, and if you’re into it, great! If not, that’s totally fine too! Honestly, he’s never been happier or more at peace, and that’s all that matters to him. He doesn’t care if we all get it, he’s doing it for himself, and honestly, good for him! It’s just… amazing to hear him be so open about it all.

Nick Cannon has been the subject of much discussion regarding his children with multiple partners. However, he’s previously explained his views on relationships. In a 2021 interview on The Breakfast Club, Cannon described the idea of lifelong monogamy as a concept rooted in European traditions, suggesting it’s not a natural expectation. He stated that the notion of a man having only one partner is limiting, emphasizing that he doesn’t believe in owning another person. He views relationships as an exchange and focuses on co-creation and procreation, rather than possession.
Cannon shares twins Moroccan and Monroe with Mariah Carey, and has children Golden, Powerful Queen, and Rise Messiah with Brittany Bell. He also has son Legendary Love with Bre Tiesi and daughter Onyx Ice with LaNisha Cole. Additionally, he shares twins Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir, and daughter Beautiful Zeppelin with Abby De La Rosa, and has two children with Alyssa Scott: daughter Halo Marie and late son Zen.
Cannon further explained that the women in his life choose to allow him into their lives and choose to have children with him, stating it’s their decision and he is simply following their lead.

Bella Thorne is currently in a monogamous relationship with her fiancé, Mark Emms, but she previously explored non-monogamous relationships. In a 2019 interview with Cosmopolitan, she described these experiences as “really fun” and expressed her enjoyment of loving multiple people simultaneously and sharing connections with several partners. She believed this lifestyle could bring her happiness. Thorne acknowledged that this wasn’t for everyone, explaining that she would openly communicate her preferences to potential partners. She emphasized that she was prioritizing her own happiness and understood if someone wasn’t comfortable with her lifestyle, recognizing that incompatibility could arise if it caused them pain. Ultimately, she was seeking partners who were willing to join her on this path to fulfillment.

As for Yungblud, he’s shared he identifies as pansexual and polyamorous.
In a 2020 interview with Attitude, musician Dominic Harrison—known as Dominic Harrison—shared that he identifies as polyamorous. He explained that he hadn’t previously understood his own sexuality, but through meeting people and discussing sexuality and gender, he began to realize how he identified. He said, ‘I was learning… and figuring out what felt right for me.’

Bob the Drag Queen is happily in two relationships, and is glad that both of their partners are also seeing other people. Speaking on the April 2025 episode of Boyfriend Material With Harry Jowsey, the Traitors star explained they have one partner in Los Angeles and another in Georgia, and the two partners get along. Bob shared that they value their independence and don’t want to be someone’s ‘everything,’ finding it exhausting to be around one person constantly. They see their partners having their own relationships as a positive thing.

Nico Tortorella and Bethany C. Meyers got married in 2018 and shared the story of their relationship. In an essay for Them, Bethany explained that they identify as queer and polyamorous, but don’t let labels limit them. They didn’t intentionally choose a polyamorous lifestyle; it simply evolved naturally over their 12 years together.
However, their relationship changed during the COVID-19 pandemic and after the birth of their children, Kilmer and Pesce Pearl. On their 2024 podcast, Full of Shift, Nico stated they are currently not open to non-monogamy.
Despite this, they haven’t ruled out the possibility of exploring non-monogamy again in the future, with Nico adding, “Who knows?”

I’ve been following Omarion for a while, and his views on relationships really resonate with me. He was on Sherri recently, and he explained why he doesn’t believe in traditional monogamy. Basically, he thinks it’s unrealistic to expect one person to fulfill all of a woman’s needs, especially considering the imbalance between men and women. He pointed out there aren’t enough truly great men out there, and men naturally have responsibilities to family and future generations. He believes women should be with men who are open about having multiple connections, seeing it as a way to build a stronger community – it takes a village, after all. He doesn’t think this is a new idea, just one that needs to be updated for modern times. What I really appreciate is his honesty. He feels that when men are open about wanting more than just one partner, it empowers women to truly understand what a man is about and make informed choices. He believes women often don’t fully understand men, and this conversation is a necessary step towards bridging that gap and acknowledging the natural desire to procreate and build a family network.
