Jonas Pate, the creator of the show “The Runarounds” on Amazon Prime Video, recently announced some thrilling news about Season 2 following the suspenseful ending of Season 1. This series revolves around a group of high school graduates in Wilmington, North Carolina, who form a rock band during summer vacation. Despite facing numerous challenges, Charlie Cooper and his band managed to surprise everyone by securing a record label deal at the conclusion of Season 1. However, it appears that their story still has plenty of drama left to unfold.
The excitement for Season 2 is palpable following the successful blend of drama, romance, and music in the show The Runarounds. The added appeal comes from the fact that the actors portraying characters are also musicians embarking on a tour across the U.S. this month, which is sure to generate even more interest in the Prime Video series. However, it’s important to note that The Runarounds has not officially been renewed for Season 2, but there have been hints about a potential continuation from both the showrunner and the cast.
As a devoted movie enthusiast, I’m excited to share some behind-the-scenes insights from my favorite show, The Runarounds. Recently, I had the pleasure of chatting with the showrunner Jonas Pate. He hinted that we can expect new music from the band within the seasons, not just during the breaks. Intriguingly, he revealed that they’ve already begun working on a record they aim to release even before the possibility of Season 2!
Jonas Pete: “Everything will be their own music, as they compose all their songs independently. I believe they’ll put out albums during the off-season, functioning as a band. Interestingly, they’ve already begun working on an album that they plan to release before a possible season two. They’re incredibly productive in their songwriting. They all write music, so it’s not just one person carrying the load. It’s simply an exciting environment filled with youthful enthusiasm.
Pate’s remarks suggest that the primary group intends to continue their progress, regardless of whether The Runarounds gets another season on Prime Video. This is thrilling news, as it adds to the solid teamwork they developed during the production of the series.
During a different conversation with Michael Fairman, Pate emphasized that having the main cast as a genuine band provides an edge. He suggested that their talent alone could propel them to success, whether or not there was a TV show (or a second season), expressing it as: “Their musical abilities are strong enough to stand on their own.
The group is set to release an album on the same day, which consists of 17 tracks and is produced by Arista. They have planned a tour and everything seems genuine. It’s possible that the band might produce additional records unrelated to their show during gaps in seasons. They are currently working on several songs for this upcoming record. The band appears capable of achieving success without relying on their TV show, as they are already quite talented.
As a movie critic, I recently had the pleasure of speaking with Jonas Pate, co-creator of the popular series “Outer Banks.” In our conversation, we delved into the potential future of the show’s captivating spinoff, “The Runaround,” particularly in Season 2. Intriguingly, Pate shared that he is primarily focused on the journey itself, using it as a vehicle to impart a valuable lesson to the characters: “Remember to consider the consequences of your actions right now, rather than getting lost in where they might take you.”
Does this new series make you feel the same level of excitement as when ‘Outer Banks’ was launched?)
Jonas Pate often advises not dwelling on the outcomes but rather focusing on the process itself. In his view, it’s more like Dean Smith’s philosophy – concentrate on the work and strive to excel at it. If done correctly, success will follow, meaning you’ll win more games than you lose. He encourages the players to embrace this mindset as well, emphasizing the importance of staying present and focused on their immediate tasks instead of worrying about future results.
Simultaneously, Zende Murdock, portraying Wyatt Willsong from the band The Runarounds, shared with Hollywood First Look his enthusiasm about a potential continuation of the series, stating, “I’m really hoping we get more seasons so I can explore this character further.” He added that he is eagerly prepared for the show to continue its run.
Hollywood First Look: “Do you visualize joining them for tours, potentially creating several more seasons together in the future?
Sure thing!
“Yes, that sounds great! In approximately two weeks, we’ll embark on a tour. So, let’s make that happen, and honestly, I’m thrilled about where this journey might lead. It’s been almost five years in the making, so I’m eager for it to continue unfolding.”
The paraphrased version uses simpler sentences and more common phrases to convey the same message as your original dialogue, while maintaining the speaker’s tone and intent.
Discussing with Daniel Mazz, it’s evident that the five principal actors from The Runarounds are thrilled at the prospect of a second season of the Amazon Prime Video series following his compliments on their show’s success and the announcement of their upcoming tour.
The television series titled “The Runarounds” boasts an up-and-coming ensemble headed by Axel Ellis, Jesse Golliher, William Lipton, Zendé Murdock, Jeremy Yun, Lilah Pate, and Kelley Pereira. On September 1, 2025, all eight episodes of “The Runarounds” made their debut on Prime Video.
Why ‘The Runarounds’ Needs a Season Two
Initially, the narrative of The Runarounds progressed slowly in terms of plot development, but as we moved deeper into the first season, it began to gain traction by delving into the personal histories of the main band members, focusing particularly on Charlie’s journey to discover his biological father.
Though Charlie eventually located his real dad, Catesby, their father-son relationship didn’t receive much attention due to the understanding that his presence might disrupt the bond between Charlie’s mother and his adoptive father. Consequently, Catesby opted to depart from the town in the long run.
Although the main band secured a recording contract at the end of Season 1, this situation enables Catesby to rejoin the group as a mentor for Charlie, since he was once a successful rockstar.
The finale saw The Runarounds securing a record deal from Izzy, which brings them closer to their dream of being a well-known band. However, this success opens up a fresh set of challenges and possibilities for the band in terms of potential fame-related conflicts, potentially leading to another season.
